The Big Thread about LOD and Texture Bugs
There are a bunch of threads going about this topic, some of which have vague or incorrect descriptions, so I'm making this thread so we can all keep track of it and hopefully get Bethesda to fix it.

Right now, on PCs ranging from mediocre to gaming powerhouses (like mine) the game is sometimes refusing to load high LOD (level of detail) models and/or textures as you get closer to them. For example, a distant building which has a low LOD version that looks like a lego brick will STAY in that low LOD even when you are right up next to it, despite even Ultra settings and a monster (980 Ti) GPU.

This happens with textures sometimes, also. You might go next to a Nuka Cola machine and have the textures be so low res you can't even make out "Nuka"; other times you can walk through the SAME area and the SAME machine looks fine.

Again, this has NOTHING to do with the system it's played on. Some of us have very powerful machines (without any mods or other tweaks going on.)

I plan to post screenshots (mine and others') later today.

Please fix, Bethesda.

User Emilgardis on Reddit posted a video of this issue. This is the low-detail quarry model in place when it should be only the high-detail model:

This image shows the effect when textures aren't loaded in properly:

Same problem here, I could never get the game to fully load the Quarry area no matter how many times I try. I'm just stuck with the low-res LOD (and will actually fall through the floor if I force myself to explore it because I'm assuming the LOD has no collison :P)

To be clear, the game IS loading the high LOD object graphics, it's just not hiding the low LOD version. There are several areas, such as the quarry, where at certain areas the holes in the low LOD object are visible. Having said that, it's still insane for the game to be so broken. They should have taken more time.

Yep, you're right about that. I misworded it in my original post.

Here's my screenshot contribution.
This is how it looked when i walked up to a reactor, and
this is what it looked like when i saved, quit, and loaded again.

Yeper, same!

Since the Beta patch this problem is a lot worse, it takes like 10 seconds for a texture in front of my face to load. (it was like 2 seconds before)

Don't forget this nasty graphical bug in Fort Hagen if you enter at a certain angle, experienced it myself too. Skip to 11:08.

I am having the same problem, with the latest beta, the LOD won't un-load and sometimes the high-res textures won't load. i5-3350P, GTX970, 16GB RAM,

I had one of those highways in the sky fade out and then faded back in existence when approaching it. Really immersion breaking.
