Power Attacks

I've been sparring with a few enemies to get a feel for the new melee system. From what I learned blocking negates a ton of damage if timed right. Getting staggered interrupts you mid-swing. Enemies have kill animations that lock you in place like in Skyrim >->

Anyway, is there any point to power attacks? I've been sparring with bladed knuckles against Humans, Super Mutants, Mirelurks, and 1 Yao Guai. Upon a successful power attack hit I did not notice any huge difference in damage. This is on normal by the way.

Main problem is that power attacks take longer to execute and cost AP. They also don't break blocking. Only neat thing I've noticed is that sometimes power attacks let my char do a kill animation -- however I've only been able to perform this on raiders very early game.

kind of answered your own question right? With power attacks is does more damage but is slower and cost ap. With power armor a power attack can knock people into the sun
