Renaming characters?
Is there a console command to rename your character, i've tried shownamemenu and it takes the command but doesn't show the menu, i've tried setactorfullname and other commands i found by googling but none seem to work.. does anyone know how i can change the name of my character? Any help is appreciated.

I only know that "ShowLooksMenu Player 1" opens up the character customization, but different to skyrim it doesn't prompt you to set a name before closing.
Minor Spoiler:
But since you can chnge your appearence in Diamond City for a hundred caps this is not much help
I also tried "player.seactorfullname" which didnt work.

showspecialmenu will open the SPECIAL menu, allowing you to choose a name. However, it also requires you to reset your SPECIAL stats as if you just started the game. I am still trying to figure out how to raise SPECIAL stats after name changing.
EDIT:
Remember where all your SPECIAL stats are at. Then type showspecialmenu to change your name. You will have to lower any raised SPECIAL stats so that 21 points total are distributed. Accept changes, then use player.setav (special name) (#) to put your SPECIAL skills back to where they were. Or wherever you want if you want to cheat. For example:
showspecialmenu
player.setav perception 5

You don't need to reduce your specials. The [R] confirm command may be greyed out, but still confirms your new name and closes the menu without having to reduce your stats.

I know that this is a dead thread, but I have confirmed this. I just renamed my oldest character (a Railroad playthrough). The option (R) is greyed out but still works.
showspecialmenu

click on your name, type a new name, press enter, and press anter again, or R
