Are all missions in the game so repetitive & boring :/?
Hi everyone,

So I've played the game for 12hrs right now and I literally got enough of it. Missions are even more boring and made without any ideas put into them than in Fallout 3 (the worst Fallout game in my opinion).

Through these 12hrs spent in the game nearly all of the missions that I got (about 22 in total) were following the path of: "walk into the town, kill the threat and start a settlement there". Tell me that this is a joke and that Bethesda did better with this game!

I read in here that the whole settlements thing in the game is completely optional:
http://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-4-crafting-will-be-entirely-optional/

Quoting from article:
"It’s a completely optional, freeform thing that you can do, if that’s what you want to do," he said. "If you don’t care about that and you just want to play quests and play side quests, and finish the main quest and that sort of thing then you can just ignore all of this [crafting]. Or do as much or as little as you want."

If this is so "optional", then why nearly all of the missions that I've done so far (except about 3) were all the same thing of "kill threat & build a settlement" :x?!

It really takes a lot off of my experience with the game. In previous games you actually felt like being a real lone wanderer in a huge post-apocalyptic world, here the vibe is in there but there is far too much focus on the settlements, which I thought will be just an additional feature in the game.

I'm really disappointed by it as I thought that Bethesda finally learned how to make interesting missions after all these years, but I wos wrong, as they are even worse than in Fallout 3 and that is REALLY bad.

You obviously didn't play Fallout 3 if you didn't see how all the missions were the same. Flavor texting does wonders.

lol the game has tons of quests that dont involve any building. actually almost everything else is about killing stuff :D

And that is not a good thing either. It just shows how bad are the Bethesda writers.

"walk into the town, kill the threat and start a settlement there".

dont do the minutemen-quests then... you are following a questline which was introduced as settlement-expansion in the beginning and are complaining about it? good work son. if you quit now you will never know that your son is the villian in this game and in the end you have to either kill hm or nuke boston

Can't stop it now as there was NO indication anywhere that staying with them will lead to these hedious, repetitive missions! I can't even leave the faction now :/...

You don't have to leave the faction, just leave the area and never come back...simple.

I might do just that. Does any of the other factions have such repetitive missions as well? Minutemen really made me not want to get back to it anymore as all of their missions are IDENTICAL :/.

Haven't done much side quest yet as i'm doing main quests but no,for me,it's not repetitive, the main quests are not like settlement quests

The randomly generated Radiant Quests are sort of samey, but the fully fleshed out ones are very good.

So can I really just not do them? Like I was mentioning earlier Minutemen quests really made me not want to come back to playing the game :(.

PS. Little offtop but gore seems to be somewhat dumbed down from F3 & New Vegas. No more guts flying out and blood is far too red.

I've personally been OK with the Minutemen quests so far, at least the locations have been refreshing and you get a good excuse to collect junk. That being said, there seem to be a lot of them and I've moved on to other quests for now. The Brotherhood of Steel questline seems a lot worse, though: You can tell they are automatically generated quests, with generic dialogue and objectives and random locations. It seems there's no way to skip them to advance in the questline either.

Why should you have to? They probably don't affect the main quest in any way if that's what you're wondering.
