Minuteman: Taking Independence Quest Bug? *minor spoilers*
Has anyone done the Taking Independence quest where you retake Castle and have to kill the mirelurks and destroy the egg clutches? I've killed all the mirelurks and destroyed all the eggs and Preston keeps saying that "We need to focus on taking the castle back." Also, he's sitting on the ground like he's hurt and won't stand back up. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me?

Did you go up to the wall and kill all the eggs there? If he's still injured it means the games still in combat mode if he's been downed.

can you stimpack him? Is a giant calamari hiding behind a wall somewhere? Havbe a good look around

There are egg sacks on top of the castle walls. Six or seven of them if I recall.

After that you need to make sure all the eggs are cleared then the queen will appear wich you must then kill :steamhappy:

I had to reload the whole quest. For some reason the first time around the script to have the queen come out didn't trigger. It did the second time around, thanks.

Has anyone had the problem with getting the quest? I've done about 20 Minuteman quests...
Although I did clear out the Castle and such before getting it.

It's a huge bug I had the same problem and had to reload

The best way around this I have seen (and tried) is:

1. Look toward Preston
2. Bring up the console by pressing: "~"
3. Click on Preston
(you will know when you have clicked on him because some text appears in your console like Object 1xfS256.)

4. Type "disable" (don't include the talking marks)
This makes Preston disappear, which also debugs the quest, it triggers the next part of the quest to happen.

5. Open the console with "~" again and type "enable", this make Preston reappear walking around the courtyard in the castle.

This worked perfectly, thank you!

This worked for me as well, thank you so much!

I had the same problem, with the difference that Preston would be standing around and not even talking to me (his name would not even appear when I targeted him with the cursor, as if he didn't exist). Neither disable-enable, nor sleeping/waiting for 24 hours worked for me, because the quest part about the eggs was still marked non-completed and Preston would still not talk to me.
What did work for me was the following:
  1. opened up the console (by pressing ~)
  2. clicked on Preston
  3. typed: recycleactor
  4. now the marker for Preston appears somewhere near Concord, as if he actually teleported there
  5. travelled to Concord (or to wherever the map shows Preston to be)
  6. found Preston; he was running towards the general direction of the Castle. Was able to talk to him, he was replying with his generic dialogue "We need to focus on talking the Castle back"
  7. slept for 8 hours
  8. when I woke up all the egg stage of quest was successfully completed, along with Meet with Minutemen at Courtyard, and the next stage, about powering up the Castle, started
Hope this helps... someone.
