You have to use floors. Walls will snap to them (and roofs to walls). For easy second floors use the ladder that's under floors (floors can snap to that, but not to walls from the top).

i got floors in the building already. it wont snap on them it snaps on out side. of it. nd wont go flush. other ones are out side primiter walls u dont use floors for that ?

and even if i did use floors for out side primter they hover above the ground also when placed on hills and connecting to gether.

for each chain link fence do i have to build a floor ?

that one with wall gap , has a floor though its there - and it wont connect even with the help of the floor.

sadly these "crap/junk" walls wont snap to anything it looks pretty badass using these as walls but i think we have to wait for some mods that will make a better "gap closing" for these :&

for the building issue on pic 3 the roof of the.. garage? is in the way to place the wall.

walls and building new buildings are the most frustrating.
You cant overlap at all thats the issue..Its near impossiable to make walls and any thing except a perfectly square house. (i rather have the recked houses then try and build new)

For the walls i use the house wall, since they will snap together normally, the others wont (least for me) If the ground is not relatively flat expect more issues. Trying to angle off at anything then a 90 degree is impossiable unless you try and come from the other side to meet. I had a decent wall but still ended up using fence posts as blockers where the few holes where.

Same they didnt allow angles of less or more then 90 while snapping on to the other wall, (if they do please let me know how.)

Not sure who tested the building feature but there is so much more they could of done to make it easier. hopefully a mod or some no clip cheat will work.

kinda kinda not- its wierd i cant slide walls around they just kinda snap where they go i cant move it to left or right, - building on to preexisting building is a pain.... be honest.

i think this is main issue with the custom building. and also issue with hover,

the game forest actully fixed both issues by allowing u to build swomthing by sliding it futher into the ground so it would not look like its hovering same with the walls u could push them to gether. to hid the effect.

I actully sent this in as a support ticket.

I have OCD when comes to two things keep my dishs clean and building stuff this game has keeping my base clean that u cant remove all the junk and building walls that cant be done correctly and its driving me insane makes me want punch things when im playing it. lol.

What is the "game forest"? And how did it fix this issue?

its a world crafting settlement building game on steam -

there alot of times where like defenses if i could push them deeper itno the ground like i can do with the ladders issue with things hovering would be fixed.

anwyays in forest when u lay a wall or a defense lets say something like a wall or a tower it snaps on to the lowest part of the ground and part thats under ground ends up looking like it was dug into the earth, and the part above ground looks like its just sitting on the ground.

this game dose the oppsit instead of clipping to the lowest part of the ground it snaps into the highest part which causes the hoovering effect.

other issue is how you can not push objects into each other with the building, well you can and you can not some objects in builder you can and some you can not no reason as to why some objects can be pushed clipped not snapped but pushed thro other objects to fit better and why other objects you can not.

for example some walls that snap into floor can be pushed into the pre exsiting walls some can not. some roofs can be pushed into the prexisting roofs some can not some hoover some dont there no ryhm or reason that i can tell why this happens. other then maybe some items are bugged to allow it and some are not.

also the cement fondation underwalls can pretty much be pushed into anything so i end up using them for my walls alot.

this would solve other issues also for example in red rocket some places i can push a custom door way into the door way of prexisting door wars allow me to attach a door and some times i cant do this.

but if they just allow items in builder to over lap and clip other items. allot of the hassle would be taken out of the game when comes to building and be honest it would look better becuase un sightly overlaping can be hidden. by other objects then also.

and would look better then huge gaps where things are just hovering or pushed away.

I dont know its hard to explain but base building and settlement building in forest is a joy can spend hours doing just that me and my friends on skype have we spent 5 hours just building settlements in that game try doing that in fallout 4 you can spend half house just trying to creat a custom ladder system to go to a level thats just out of reach for generic ladders they have.speacily when trying to push them close to a pre exsiting thing like top roof of the red rocket.

only way i could get ladder up there for example was, by building a ladder sticks out over the edge from roof and then building a plat from across it and then connect to ladders down to the floor. lucky ladders that one type of ladder can be pushed deep into the ground so i could use it to make a custom length ladder but i spent most of the time putting it up taking it down just to get prefect height on thing and then other half of time trying to get them to snap to gether becuase they really did not want to. it was not enjoyable exprince it was mostly just fustrating and time consuming.

Ok I think I understand. I have been saving before I build and then intermittently during the build but I usually go back to before I put anything down once I figure out what works and have a good plan of what I am going to build.

Doorways are ticking me off the most. Other walls allow me to build a deck all the way around my building but so far I haven't figured out anything that will place in front of a door except the junk wall door which doesn't snap there. But looks good enough I guess.

I haven't tried interior walls yet, how come there are no interior doorways - or have I missed them in the builder? I could use those for outer doors too.

I have tried the tcl thing but that hasn't got me to place anything where I couldn't without it on - maybe the problems I am trying to solve that just doesn't help with. I haven't found any wall I can sink into the ground yet.

There are 2 wood floor sections with magic foundations that fill the area under them and snap together, very useful for building walls that hug the ground curves, seen here used to fill in the gaps in the old minuteman fort walls and for the foundation of 12penny tower.

They are also able to clip through the ground, which is very useful.

Place a junk fence on a mat or carpet, then you can clip it into other areas.

what about clipping to each other.

only thing i think could work for junk walls is use cement fondation around base and then lay the stupida junk wall on top of it that might even it out but u still get gap bettwent them i would think..

also what is point of the junk wall door ?

enemny NPC can just walk thro it

why even have option of fence door ?

orginaly i was thinking that it keep radiers out and then if they attacked they need to nock it open and that it give my people time to kill them instead of them just appearing inside my base ?

actully the all walls junk walls are just that junk.

its easier and better just to use the cement floor fonduation.

this can clip into things and it can be pushed into ground to make a flat top - plus u can then walk on top of it and put gun turrents on it.

it makes better wall then the walls be honest.
