Need help fighting Super Mutants.

It's not that I cannot kill Super Mutants but I have found that its not economically feasable to fight them. Like i can sell lost of gear from Raiders to buy more ammo, but Super Mutants don't have enought gear to pay for all the ammo I used to kill them. Anything I am missing?

Also it's really sad once you blow off all the limbs of a Legonday Goul and then they are helpless and cost wise its better to just club them to death. I feel like I am clubbing a glowing baby seal.

I found a super mutant base while on a mission for the brotherhood. My advice is to always search the building/location where the mutants are! I found a new power armour set AND a fat man in one spot after killing about 10 of them. They also had missile launchers and 7 missiles, lots of molitovs, various ammo types and much more. Aim accurate, use mines/throwables and search everything!! Took me so many attempts to clear the base though

Super mutants are a threat?!?! Finally. They were supposed to be tough from the original games (Fallout 1/2) andn Bethesda turned them into sacks of loot in Fallout 3. Obsidian made them tough again. At least Bethesda kept this aspect from NV.

Wait! I know how you can save almost all your money!! It might take a little longer to kill them though.
Do a quest for the brother hood and in a building you go to with them you'll find something Called a junk launcher.
You can use ANYTHING you find as ammo, forks, toys, materials, anything!'

Thats the problem Mr_Slippyfists the cost of all that ammo not killing them. I have the junk launcher but have never used it. I will have to give it a shot.

Super Mutants are a real ♥♥♥♥♥ to fight against...

They seem to always have 3-4 of them equipped with a Missile Launcher or Fat man...

Well.. At least they have finally become hard to fight against.

Those kamikazes are the real problem for me instead, they just sprint towards me and explode.

They have no qualms shooting rockets at you point blank either.

Funniest and most cost effective way of dealing with them is to send your dog into the middle of a group of them. Supermutan Suiciders seem to think friendly fire is!
The fatman armed ones can result in similar hilarity.

Two words - frag grenades. That is all. (Not sure how effective they are on legendaries though. Same brotherhood mission, frag nades were popping the normal muties in one hit)

What if it's a Legendary suicider

Where I am in the game I charge my musket 4 times and them headshot them from stealth to kill them instantly. I think it would work even without the stealth to be honest...

Haven't had any trouble with them. But I've found certain weapons seem to work better on certain enemies. I pretty much always bring out my 4 crank laser sniper when dealing with those pesky mutants. Nice, big, slow targets. Not something I use on those quick feral ghouls.

Yep. That's exactly what I do, and it works great without stealth.
