Can't start "Getting a clue" quest

I met with Valentine at his office but he just sit and does nothing, so this quest won't start. Can someone tell me this quest id?

How do you know there is a quest called "Getting a clue? The whole point of RPGing is to find out quests, not to find out what triggers quests.

If a quest does not trigger it is because you have not done what was required to trigger it. Do not expect quests, just resolve them as they present themselves... just explore and play the game. Just saying.

Using console commands might not be very wise:

I was able to start the quest by moving dogmeat to myself and resurrecting it. Somehow (through console or glitch) dog had died and the quest will not start if you don't have dog. This may also happen if you have a companion other than dogmeat with you, have not tested.

I still can't start the quest. The guy just sitting in the chair and console commands won't work on him. Anyone got a solution yet?

Does the beta patch fix the bug with dogmeat and the "getting a clue" quest?

Talk to the secretary... what happens? I remember she had some lines in there somewhere. You don't have to have dogmeat with you, Nick will suggest it later and dogmeat shows up for tracking... at least he did for me. I wouldn't do console commands. Do you not have a save to go back to where you spring him from captivity?
