Something I'd like to know as well since Dogmeat isn't technically a companion in the normal sense... but he also sort of is. It's really not clear if it counts. I'd guess not since Dogmeat has his own perks you can take and Lone Wanderer is separate to those, but who knows.

I guess easiest way to confirm is make a save after levelup, take Lone Wanderer, then check your carry weight before and after taking Dogmeat along. If it stays increased, Dogmeat doesn't count.

So he does count as a companion sadly.

Dog does NOT count as a companion. That tweet is more related to the companions that you can get that aren't human such as codsworth.

He has his own perk.

He counts as a companion for sure.

That's awesome then! And a bit overpowered xD

Yup Dog meat is a companion. lone perk you go alone, though why would you want to?

Codsworth has a flamethrower and a buzzsaw.

Dogmeat doesn't count as a companion for that perk. I took it with only him as my 'companion' and my carry weight went up by 50 points.

I'm not even convinced Lone Wanderer works, with or without Dogmeat my carryweight stays the same at 325, I have the first point in it for the 25 weight and damage reduction.

I don't think this was intended and I think they will patch this. On a loading screen describing the Lone Wanderer perk, it says this:

"Prefer to go it alone? With the Lone Wanderer perk, you'll take less damage and be able to carry more equipment when you adventure without a companion or dog."

Works for me when I have dogmeat I have more carry weight and take less damage and deal more wether it's a bug or not I don' t know.

because he cant equip real weapons or armor dogmeat is exluded from the lone wander perk. it makes since because dogmeat is really all utility and no dmg. compared to any other companion you can deck out in all modded legendary gear they are almost as strong as you sometimes
