Junk fences? having trouble!
ok so im setting up a personal base for my self, i'd like the junk fences to cover me in but for some reason they don't play well with eachother and WILL not sit next to eachother with out leaving a sizable gap =/ OCD kinda kicking in

a few things were like that for me. i think there will probably be improvments to it in the future. for right now i'm sticking with the snap to grid like stuff

Yeah, I've all but given up on trying to make fences play nice, having them line up with structures is hard enough, but most of the time, they just don't feel like being placed where you want them, or even connecting up properly.

I haven't tried it yet, but apparently there's a method where you can snap objects to a rug, pick the rug up ( object snapped will remain attached) and then place the rug (without the collision of snapped object), and then remove rug at will.

I totally agree with you, my problem is that most of the land is uneven and fences that i built tend to sit 2 or 3 feet up in the air if part is built on a different level, I hope that Bethesda or a modder could perhaps have create a filler tool to level the land or even it out, even if it means having to dig soil to use I would gladly do that. Its the same for the large shack, if you want to build one it would be nice if we could make a level foundation as I tried to build on in Sanctuary but a side door sat about 5 feet in the air.

Digging would be good. It would make my farms nicer too

Junk Fences don't snap. They only need to be close enough together to prevent pathing. This is better, because snapping doesn't adjust for elevation changes very well. You'd wind up with a lot more floating bits.

For large elevation changes, there are a few floors in the Wood category that can help. One is a raised platform, but the other is a concrete foundation. Concrete is REALLY rare, so I don't advise trying to make a wall out of it.

its not that i want them to snap, its that i don't want a big gap where between them, i'd rather a small to no gap

Place item, go closer to item, select item again, place with better precision :)

odd, I've not had significant problems in that department. I can usually snuggle them pretty close. Try different types?

Ya it's terrible I don't even see the point until there is a decent snap tool added. Just completely useless.

Place them on a mat, then move the mat.

The junk fence wall with a tire on the end have terrible collision boxes (not the 'round' one with stacked tires).

Another alternative is to use wood/concrete foundation to level the terrain, or use shack walls which snap and are cheaper.

wrong concrete is pretty common if you know where to look for it, places like West Everret Estates has tons note you cna find it in BAGS, heacy, weight 8, but lots of concrete value

also some traders sell it by "consignment" so you don't have ot carry it, iirc the general trader in Diamond city and the woman at Abernathy farms

I use concrete a LOT to build defencive walls that also double as housing or whatever as I need :)
