Tired of upgrading PC..should I buy console
Couldn't buy Fallout 4 yet because my new PSU was burnt again and graphic card is also producing burning smell.

Nowaday gaming PCs are not about spec anymore. Even if you buy good CPU+GPU, still you need stable PSU, mainboard, extra coolers, good case, it's getting more expensive and expensive.

Maybe I'll just buy PS4 and some titles I already have on PC(total around 600bucks I guess)
that'll cost less than upgrading PC endlessly.

How is Fallout 4 on console? is it good?

If you makes a good build the first time you shouldnt need another upgrade besides graphics cards for 4-5 years.

"new PSU was burnt again" - 2 options - you are purchasing cheap PSU's or ones that barely meet your requirements, or you have really really awful wiring/power at your home, and should probably invest in a good power conditioner or UPS to prevent losing more parts. if you are blowing PSU's they are doing damage to the rest of your rig whenever they pop. find otu why they are. perhaps a heat issue where the case location means the PSU is overheating? or the ground circuit at the plug isnt working.

Recent games seem to push PSU and mainboard to its limits too, I think entire PC needs upgrade every 2 years, if you play recent games.

PSU itself is good one, though it's only 600w. I'm not even sure if smell is from inside PSU or just the fan.

Maybe whole PC is slightly burnt(slight smell comes from everywhere). Can't pinpoint and I'm tired of fixing PC endlessly.

Fallout 4 on both consoles is locked to 30fps at 1080p and they are experiencing dips into the low 20's and stuttering in areas.

Also what are you talking about, for PC gaming you've always needed those things, they are part of your specifications? You can still cheap out on those other pieces of hardware a bit and focus on CPU your CPU and GPU though. You don't need a "good" case or "extra coolers" and if anything it's getting cheaper.

I think you're looking in the wrong places, getting unlucky or buying bad components.

What kind of PSU was it? Was it a brand or off the shelf?

what GPU do you use? Also PSU do matter. You have to have a sustained wattage for a GPU to not melt your PSU so getting a 'good' PSU is not enough,m you need one from people that are known for their good PSU's. Moving forward, don't overclock your GPU with only minimal power. I bet you are doing that and melting your PSU's like an idiot because of it.

Also never trust someone with a private profile. Not a terribly good troll OP, it's not enough to incite people quite like you want. It's too subtle, really.

No, if you buy cheap PSU or mainboard, they'll sizzle your expensive CPU+GPU with it.

and whether I set my profile private or not doesn't have anything to do with anything. I'm just private person.

Dude i've been using this PC for 5/6 years and I haven't had to upgrade yet, soon, maybe next year but not there yet and even then just a CPU/GPU upgrade, maybe replace a HD with SSD. Never once had it burned anything out or even gotten hot. If your burning out your PSU you've probably got something eating up way more than it should.

The every 1-2 year upgrade thing is such BS lmao.

May be worth noting where the desktop is being stored or located at your desk. Can't tell you how many times my friends had parts fry on them because the tower was tucked way under the desk sucking up all the dust, or they put it in a closed drawer to hide it and make the desk loot "neat".

I find it hard to believe that you shortcircuited your mobo and GPU off a cheap PSU. you must be truly careless with your rig to do that.
Sparky862 Nov 10, 2015 @ 12:20pm
I never had this issue you have?? Prob cause i have a Gold Platinum PSU and my whole PC is safe using my 620WATT PSU because i only draw about 500-550WATS.

What your explaining is what happens if you try to build a gaming rig with cheap parts. You keep on burning your PSU prob cause your exeeding its maximum Wattage.

Whats your specs BTW??
Pricklepants Nov 10, 2015 @ 12:21pm
Next time invest $80-100 on a PSU from EVGA's G2 line and you won't have to worry about your PSU for at least a decade. I've invested about $1200 total on my PC in the last 5 years and still get a much better experience than I would on console and the added plus of getting games at discounted prices.
