Storing power armor?
So I ran out of juice on the first power armor you get. Left it standing as it was all I could and eventually it disappeared. Now I have found a second power armor and I want to store it somewhere so it won't despawn/get stolen.
How do I do that?

I imagine if you store it in the workshop across from your character's house in "Sancuary" that it might be somewhat safer than just some random spot on the road.

I take the fusion cell out when I leave mine though...

Spot - on, it does/can get stolen if left unattended (and in double quick-time if you leave your power cell in it)

Store it back at your base it should be safe there or I stored mine where preston was so it was actually always guarded infront of him.

I left the armor since its cell was empty... guess some raider had a backup with him, lol

Well to get out of it you press and hold "A" on a controller, don't know about KB/M yet.

When you step out of it, just transfer the power cell into your inventory.

I do play with a controller, so far at least. Really only because I already had it plugged in which made my kb/m not work. I haven't noticed any acceleration though? I upped the sensitivity a bit and it feels normal to me. Like Skyrim to be honest.

Do I need to set up defense turret beside my power armor at home base? Or I can just leave it there without defense?

I left my power armor in the middle of the goodneighbor, without core, and it just vanished. I guess they do despawn after some time in some cells. But if left in settlement cell, like sanctuary hills, or in player house in Diamond city, they don't despawn.
I had another power armor despawn at national guard training yard. Well those loot power armors doesn't despawn, but if you move it, then it might.
But, nobody steals a power armor if there is a core inside. Pickpocketing a core from enemy's power armor (or just crippling it, which makes it blow up) is something you can do to make enemies pop out from power armors. Works most of the time. I've pickpocketed dozens of cores, and only a few times have enemy stayed inside his power armor. Shooting that core works almost as well, except that explosion usually kills the person inside power armor, and if they are dead, the are not going to jump out of their armor.

Another pro tip (which most of you probably knew already..) if you kill a person who is wearing a power armor, just shoot the power armor parts on the dead body to break them. Makes those parts weight 0, but their value is unaffected. Easier to haul those armor pieces from place to place. But this works only on power armor pieces worn by dead bodies. Don't go wasting bullets on suits with nobody inside.

Store it in a Power Armor workstation or Power Armor display and it should persist no problem, although it will still be hypothetically vulnerable to being stolen. I've collected I don't know how many suits.
