Can't enter name for character when vault tec arrives at house?

Just started playing fallout 4 and i can't even begin to play it properly, unfortunately. The guy from vault tec arrives at my characters house, tells him he's cleared to enter the vault if nuclear fallout occurs etc. etc. i am then prompted with with the S.P.E.C.I.A.L points screen to apply the points, once i've done that i can't "accept" because i have't named my character, yet i haven't been prompted to name my character. anyone else having this issue?

on the special screen, the name should be displayed on the top. if not then u can change that after u exit the vault regardless.

Bad coding, trying clicking multiple times in the "area" surrounding the 'name' box... it took me a couple tries as well.

thanks for your reply guys!! I'll launch the game again now and try again, i don't recall seeing any name box though. where exactly in the top area of the screen am i supposed to see the name box?

On the top of the SPECIAL area - there's a spot marked 'NAME'. Click next to /on it.

i'm literally not getting anything as far as "name" is concerned. I am only getting my SPECIAL'S
I can't accept or anything or move past or back from the SPECIAL screen. just tried it again and still no luck guys.

I had this problem and it fixed it when I hit the tab key

Not working for me either :(
I can select the name box, and there is a cursor on the right (not left) side of it. But I can't enter anything.

Ran the update and could now enter the name. Or maybe it was just the restarting.

There is no name box for me at all. Tried reloading. So much for super wide screen patch

For ultra wide screen, where you dont see any "Name" input, and the SPECIAL menu is already a little funky, to enter the name you need to:

1) click the very top of the screen - the empty space above Strength.
2) Hit "Tab" key - you should hear a small audio cue
3) Type your name, BUT it can't start with a "T" - at least when I tried it was triggering the reset keybind.
4) Hit "Enter"
5) The "R" / "Done" action should now show as enabled, and let you finish.

I had to delete the preferences.ini to reduce the game to a small box, name the character and save, then restore the ini to go back to full screen.

I found a fix for this start game click mouse at menu make sure the consol command opens up good to go if consoul dont open close steam try again
