Pip boy app not working.

I have a iphone 5 (non-S). No matter what I do, I can't get the Pip-boy app to sync with my game. I have app ENABLED in the game's settings>gameplay menu. I've tried disabling my router and windows firewall with no luck. I've tried having my PC's wireless enabled and disabled (I generally connect through the hardline RJ45). No dice on that either.

I have tried to sync both before getting out of vault 111 and after I've slapped it on in game and been stomping about in my old house. No dice. I have also tried restarting both my phone and my PC.

Anyone know the trick to getting the pip-boy app to sync with the game?

Depends on what hardware you're using. It works perfectly on my iPhone 6s, but fails on my iPad (older model). They have some issues to work out here.

That's fine and dandy that it works for some folks. That's not answering the question though :P

For those who have encountered the issue, is there a trick I've overlooked that you've had work?

I can't get it to sync with my Winodws Lumia 930 phone :/ no idea why

If its not syncing... make sure you have "PIP BOY SYNC" enabled in your options IN GAME! That tripped me up too. After that option is turned on, you have to restart the game... probably opening a network port so your phone/pad communicates properly.

Whoops, almost forgot, make sure you have the latest OS on your smart device; this is probably the problem with my iPad since I haven't updated to the latest Mac OS.

Have you restarted the game? Once you turn that setting on you need to restart the game before it'll actually be discoverable..

Works fine on my S6 Edge.

Did you try reloading the game after turning on the synch in the options menu like the app tells you to? I believe you also had to restart the app.

Yeh this is it, picked up pipboy, changed setting, restarted game. Still doesnt communicate. I use the same network on pc and phone ..

you have to wait till your outside the vault up the elevator than you activate the app not when you pick it up.

Well I activated the option in-game before even downloading the app if that helps. It managed to sync right away.

I restarted my entire phone ( turn off and then back on ), start the game with the pipboy app option on, load a save, and then open the app. It should work from there

Were you able to see the game before you restarted your phone or could you not even scan for it? I'm trying to work out why I keep getting a connection error message after finding the IP of my PC and trying to connect to it...

I have a cable connected pc and, obviously, my Lumia 830 in wifi and was having the issue, solved (i think, ive tried a load os crap) by changing my network from public to private(win10 kinda does turn a private connection into a public one) and made sure i was not in a homegroup and network discovery was on, restarted the pc and it works like a charm. SO IT DOES WORK IF YOUR PC IS NOT CONNECTED VIA WI FI, just make sure windows isnt the one refusing the attempt to connect! and, erm, hooray for the first companion app for WP
