Game crashes cause of a Windows Kernel Error
Hey guys,

i checked the forums but i didnt find my problem at another person.

Here is my problem.

I play the game and suddenly i get black monitors and i am dropped to desktop with following error:
"NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, version 358.91 WHQL stopped responding and has successfully recovered" (normally i have the german version)

My solutions i tried:

1. Completely new install of driver and restarting pc
2. windowed mode / full mode tested
3. nvidia energy from adaptive to full energy
4. Shadows from high to low
5. i checked other resolutions:
6. tried older Nvidia versions and Betas
7. checked the game cache

My PC:
AMD FX 6100 Six Core @ 3300 mhz
ASUS 680 GTX
16 gb GSkill RAM


Any tips ?

it's an Nvidia driver issue (*TDR) try rolling back your driver to a previous version.

What GPU is it, and I don't think this game even works well period unless you have the 358.91 (I never tried it without it)

Yeah seems many are getting it now. :( I'v not had any issues yet.

I had this issue a while ago with an old XPS "17 after updating a driver to beta. I couldn't get it fixed, because even stable drivers gave me the same problems after installing the beta drivers.

I can't say it isn't fixable, but keep an open mind about this issue, and try any fix you can find before you resort to, say, reformatting. Best of luck!

Well I ll try to uninstall it and do a fresh clean install again

[This is because since the release of win 10 both AMD and Nvidia have had to split resources between ongoing development of drivers for win 10 and drivers for win 7 & 8. Which has meant they have had to make certain compromises, many of which are quite complicated to go into. But the end result is you will see less stability & compatibility overall in new drivers from now on. On both win7/8 and win 10 driver versions. And so far the promise from Nvidia that their "game-ready" culture will help them minimize this issue, hasn't really worked out that way.]

Sorry to just cut'n'paste that in, but it's still applicable regarding TDR issues, especially with Nvidia drivers. Only thing you can do is add to the petition that was on the geforce forums, if it hasn't already been taken down that is.
