Compatability (DirectX)

Hello everyone.

Before I most likely make a mistake buying this out of hype.
Does anyone know if Fallout 4 can be played on DirectX 9 or 10? as thats is the best my Graphics card will allow sadly.

Or will I have to buy a New Card first that is 11 or 11/12 Compatable?

The minimum requirements for Fallout 4:

Graphics: GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 2GB VRAM



minimum requirements means that you are able to start and run the game, doesnt mean it is playable with good framerates.

It looks like Fallout 4 is a directx 11 only game and dx10 or dx9 are not supported, but Iam not sure.

Anyway, the minimum system requirements don't include a specific DirectX version, so you're good to go.

From where do you take your infos ?

The minimum required video card is a directx 11 card (GTX 550 TI)....

Hopefully in the next days there will be informations from people who actually tried to run the game with a directx10 video card. I have not seen infos about directx version yet in reviews only read about hardware recommandations.

Yeah, I looked up the required minimal card.
The game is likely Dx 11 only, but its worth asking XD
I have a GTS 250, which as it stands runs games very well within the Dx 9 and 10 range, even playing GTA V without an issue, but unable to play Far Cry 4 (which I do believe is Dx 11 only)

So while I can play most games on high quality XD
I cant play Dx 11 only games DX

Just get a refund from steam and buy it again later on sale when you have a newer video card =(

Yes, and this is really strange.

Iam sure more people are around who would love to know what type of directx is possible with Fallout 4.

I havent bought it yet, so i dunno.
Thats why I'm asking around, if it is Dx 10 compatable, then I should be able to play it.

Displaying the lowest Dx compatability should be a standard on requirments descriptions XD

I just can't find any mention of Directx at all on the official fallout 4 page at Bethesda for requirements, I can only find it in the info they sent to gaming sites when they released the specs. That's the only thing that makes me wonder.

Seems the game is directx11 only and it is only possible to run Fallout 4 with a dx10 video card with the help of a dx11 simulation. (=unplayable FPS).
