The game selects only integrated graphics. sD3DDevice="Intel(R) HD Graphics Family"
The game selects only integrated graphics(sD3DDevice="Intel(R) HD Graphics Family") not GT 740m. If I force to 740m in Fallout4Prefs.ini, it still work on intel HD.

Win8 64, latest drivers, in geforce experience set nvidia adapter for fallout4 and fallout4l;auncher aplications.

Wait, are you saying your game is able to run on Integrated graphics? On the lowest setting I presume?

If so, this gives me hope! I'm on a lower end Nvidia Card, but worse than yours, I believe. I've held off buying because I don't think I can run the game.

Either goto the NVIDIA control panel and select to use the GPU or do as others suggested.

I prefer selecting it in the control panel as the default setting for everything.

You can disable onboard graphics in the bios then the computer wont even see it no more conflict.

I have an i7 4770k that does have one + my motherboard that has one too and i have a GPU. Never had any problems because you can turn them off in the BIOS.

He should be able to turn ♥♥♥♥ to off somewhere. There is no way that his BIOS doesnt let him turn off the onboard graphics and changing it in the nvidia panel should work.

If you right click on your desktop you should be able to change the default used GPU for an applications if you have a dedicated as well.

If you have an AMD dedicated card, you can right click the desktop and run AMD Catalyst. It'll then allow you to choose between 'Power Saving' and 'High performance' for each application.

Run the game and it should appear on the list of recently used apps. You can then change it to 'High Performance'. (Power Saving uses your weaker integrated GPU, if you want to run games it's best you use the High Performance setting, which allows your dedicated GPU to take over.)

If you have a Nvidia GPU, I can't say myself how to choose which one to use, but you should be able to in the Nvidia Control Panel.

This continues to be a massive issue for myself, and presumably everyone with dual integrated/dedicated machines. Currently running Windows 8.1 64-bit with an Intel Core i7-3632QM @2.20GHz, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M and Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000.

NVIDIA Control Panel is already set to use the NVIDIA processor for applications by default, and Maximum Performance power management mode for Fallout 4 specifically. Fallout 4 still insists on using the integrated card instead.

My BIOS has no visible options for disabling the integrated card, or otherwise forcing the use of the dedicated card.

Skyrim had the same problem, and I was able to fix it using the custom DLL method. I tried doing the same for Fallout 4. It didn't work.

Since I'm cursed with Win8.1, I can't use the regedit solution[forums.geforce.com] either.

If there's any known solution I missed for getting Fallout 4 to use dedicated graphics, I'm all ears. Very concerned, considering this thread has gone over a month with no replies.
