Movement Stutter
Just a quick fix:

I've read that people are getting some movement stutter wallking and moving the camera even though they are getting a solid 60fps like myself.

It seems that Bethesda's implementation of vsync is just horrible. Turn off the in-game vsync option by going to your Fallout4prefs.ini file and set 'iPresentInterval=1' to off (0)

Then in your video card settings (I'm running nVidia) force it on.

This made the game pretty much silky smooth for me. Its very early days indeed I've only played it an hour but so far its been a smooth ride now.

Can someone walk me through this, both parts? Running the game on Ultra, but, only the stuttering/screen tearing is holding my game back.

Go into your steam folder, then go into steamapps/common/fallout 4/fallout 4 and click on the file. Then use the search to find the line "iPresentInterval". Then change the value from 1 to 0.

Lol, you found a solution.. To a solution.

Actually I did try that too before, I've had some games that run better in windowed mode in the past, but alas, not Fallout4.

The .ini file seems to change the iPresentInterval value from "0" back to "1" every time I start the game. Anyone know how to fix this?

Make the .ini read only.

How do I force it on in the video card settings?

For AMD users having difficulties with this it helped me when i installed the lates beta driver from their site. Now i get sround 55-60FPS all the time. played 3 hours without no stutter or crashes.

@AussiePatriot I just wanted to say thanks. I know it's been almost two years since you made this post, but I've been searching for literally almost a week for a fix to this.

Your solution worked. Thank you.

ik this discussion is old as hell but thank you so much for this. I only just noticed the stutter when moving and im the kind of person who wont unsee that kind of thing once they see it. thankfully, this guide worked for me, and now my game is looking smooth.
