AMD Radeon HD 6900 series

got a 3year old pc with this graphics card....

I have limited knowledge about computers and specs etc and have no idea where my card ranks amongst them all so please don't be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

one question...

do i need an upgrade to run the game?

You won't be able to run on high graphics but that should work. I can't play it yet but have a feeling it will have a Physx setting. If it is chugging along, turn off Physx. I have a 7970 and have zero worries. 6900 series was strong also.

I have actually took the risk and already bought the game....

played for like an hour on low/medium detail.

playable but kinda glitchy graphics and fps drops.

Could this be a result of AMD drivers or is my card ♥♥♥♥♥♥?

your card is a bit weak by current standards. (so is mine) but if you don't want to buy a new one, try waiting a few days for amd driver support and a few weeks for bethesda to work out some of the internals. it could make the difference in playability.

Better don't expect it to run well. 6900 performance is below what low end (below 100€) cards offer these days.

Local PC shop is selling a Nvidia GTX 960 for a decent price. Is this a much better card capable of running fallout 4 and other new titles?

What's everyone performance like on AMD systems? I'm using a 7970 i know its dated but without tweaking i get 30-50fps on ultra, waiting for crossfire drivers then i can use my second 7970, Have some radeon pro tweaks ready to test later on.

yeah. it should be able to handle fallout 4 at 1080 fairly well.

at the price range it is between that or the r9 380. i'd go with the 380, personally. games are going to require more vram from here on out.

i would also love to know how 7000 series amd cards are fairing.

but i'm going to wait to see for myself. if it can't hack it, i'm running to the store before work tomorrow for an upgrade.

yeah. any i7 should be good. 8gb is the recomended ram. and you only need 30(?)gb hard drive space.

Any idea what processor it is? I have an I5-3570k which is a few years old but runs everything great.

Yeah, those are more then fine. The i7 will be good for another 4-5 years and the RAM will do you good for a bit, but you'll eventually need to get another 8, but not for a while yet. I'd worry about the vid card first. The 960 will be a great improvement for you, you'll love it and it'll be good for a good while still.

- Play game
