Correct I believe, not 100% sure what the American time zones are using but i imagine it'll pick one of the "Continental regional" type time zone thingies and then roll with it.

No it doesnt .. it releases at 12:01 Tuesday at your own local time. The only exception is America where it unlocks for everyone in North America 12:01 EST
So New Zealand for example gets it way way early ( in about 14 hours I think ) Uk gets it in 26 hours and North America gets it in about 31 I think

Bethesda recently confirmed the Fallout 4 release time for 12:01AM Eastern in the United States. Those who pre-ordered the game digitally will be able to pre-load the game and play right when the clock strikes 12:01 Eastern local time. So, if you live on the west coast, you’ll be able to start playing the game right at 9:01PM Pacific.

This tells me a fixed time Eastern a 3 hour difference from West US

Im from The Netherlands and steam tells me 02:00 am tuesday but there is a 9 hour difference with West so it should unlock 6am tuesday for me...

Iv'e had it before game getting unlocked hours past the Steam release time..

Steam can't tell if you are using VPN unless it snoops on your computer or analyzes your packets.

The unlock day and time is literally in the middle of my day off work, meaning a whole day after my day off, and starting at midnight the start of the day I start my night shift lol.

No it will unlock for you when your clock in your house says 12:01 ... West coast will get it before East coast US but you will get it before West coast also.

No it will unlock for you when your clock in your house says 12:01 ... West coast will get it before East coast US but you will get it before West coast also.

How is this a difficult concept to understand? There are different freaking time zones in the world. West coast America will get the game 3 hours before midnight, east coast gets it at midnight, if someone from the east coast posts at 12:01am, and someone from the west coast posts at 9:01am the posts will appear at the same time, how is this confusing?

No DST if you VPN to Brisbane. if your VPN reaches Sydney then you can benefit from DST.

NZ is 3 hours further ahead if you care.

If you use a VPN, does that mean you have to keep it on for the duration of the rest of the download?
Or do you only have to have it on for a few seconds to initiate the download?
And does anyone know where one can find such a VPN?
