I can't really see them mutating into sentient beings.
Deathclaws were genetically engineered so thats another story.
ontop of it all, all deathclaws are intelligent and can infact speak, they just have a insane matabilism where if they dont eat so often they are royally screwed. thus why they are instantly hostile.
You use a deathclaw glove thingy, cut their hands, and boom. Give them boxing gloves instead of hands, ????, profit.
On capturing a deathclaw they have a perk for that now. On the deathclaws having a high metabolism I can't find any info on that, only that they are very territorial.
Set up a great big building that looks like a fortified bank vault that you would stash your gear and valuables in, have huge amounts of automated turrets that you need to fight your way through just to get to the front door, and then when you finally break the Master Level hack to crack the computer code to open the door...
... you find a huge room filled with teddy bears, milk bottles, and a whole ton of intelligent deathclaws sitting around tables and looking VERY ticked that you've disturbed their Tragic: The Garnering game that they all had good caps on...
Yep, had a bad day at work and feeling... creative :D
But in answer to the OPs idea - always liked the intelligent deathclaws in FO2, but yeah - can't see them coming back mate; they were Interplay/Black Isle's babies, and I don't think Beth' is going down that track :)
Either way I can't wait to play fallout 4 and max out Wasteland Whisperer so I can create a army of deathclaw guards for my settlements lol.
Also @Elder Long the Wanamingos are not actually aliens they were just mistaken for aliens, they are supposed to be genetic bio weapons like the Deathclaws but their origin is pretty ambiguous on weather they are mutants or FEV tailored weapons. Personally I liked them and thought it would be interesting to see them in a DLC just in a base game, I had wished they would have made it in 3 the concept art was pretty cool.
