Am I the only one hoping for the return of intellegent deathclaws?
I feel like the intellegent deathclaws in Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics (shudder) never got the play they deserved. To be honest, I think they are more interesting than ghouls, even! I dont know why, but the idea of another species being able to think, act, and respond with emotion and intellect to its results really got me back in 2, when I walked into the vault and saw them. When they talked to the character, and I got the albino deathclaw companion, I really fell in love with them. Am i alone on this?

I would love to see talking mirelurks or death claws would be cool.
Deathclaw guards at settlements. Nothing is getting through.

Mirelurks are big horseshoe crabs.

I can't really see them mutating into sentient beings.

Deathclaws were genetically engineered so thats another story.

haha, imagine being the raider running through flamethrowers, gunfire, mortars, and mines. Get through, ready to fight, and theres just a line of deathclaws standing there with their arms crossed. The horror haha. (JESUS CHRIST, HOW HORRIFYING.)
read the fallout bible. They completly killed off that group of deathclaw's that where friendly to human's, as that dev stated "It was a stupid and horrible idea that i know fans will be wishing for from now on, so i killed them off in the bible so they can never return."

ontop of it all, all deathclaws are intelligent and can infact speak, they just have a insane matabilism where if they dont eat so often they are royally screwed. thus why they are instantly hostile.

I never read the bible, I thought it was non-canon. And sure it was dumb idea, but the xenomorph monsters in the mine were dumb as hell too, but there was also a rad scorpion in that game that was smart eough to beat my guy at chess at (what I believe was) 7-8 intellegence, so whos to say some fauna might not be made sentient in the newest game through some new or old means? We can only hope.

nope, it was made by the guy who originaly made fallout, thus full cannon. and im not saying myself if it was a stupid idea or not, the original dev did and axed it, HARD.

Capture a Deathclaw and take it to the Institute. Have them suck out the brain and install a robotic one and their you go a Deathclaw Companion.

Enclave captured them so I think the Institute can figure it out.

You use a deathclaw glove thingy, cut their hands, and boom. Give them boxing gloves instead of hands, ????, profit.

No its not canon anymore, even Chris Avellone the dev who wrote it said it was no longer canon.

On capturing a deathclaw they have a perk for that now. On the deathclaws having a high metabolism I can't find any info on that, only that they are very territorial.

Set up a great big building that looks like a fortified bank vault that you would stash your gear and valuables in, have huge amounts of automated turrets that you need to fight your way through just to get to the front door, and then when you finally break the Master Level hack to crack the computer code to open the door...

... you find a huge room filled with teddy bears, milk bottles, and a whole ton of intelligent deathclaws sitting around tables and looking VERY ticked that you've disturbed their Tragic: The Garnering game that they all had good caps on...

Yep, had a bad day at work and feeling... creative :D

But in answer to the OPs idea - always liked the intelligent deathclaws in FO2, but yeah - can't see them coming back mate; they were Interplay/Black Isle's babies, and I don't think Beth' is going down that track :)

Wait, it was a "horrible idea"? why? Goris was a huge badass in Fallout 2, and his appearence in Nuka Breaker(which, until stated otherwise, is canon in my heart, there was a weapon named after it in New Vegas for christ's sake) made me squee hard enough for it to need a change of pants.

I would def like to see intelligent deathclaws because I think they are intelligent enough to evolve the ability on their own to communicate with humans since the basic deathclaws are only intelligent enough to mimic human speech like parrots and can't actually comunicate. Its also possible that Goris could mate with a female deathclaw which would create a more intelligent breed. Its also possible that another deathclaw Xarn could have survived the events of Fallout 2, which would increase the chances of the trait being passed on.

Either way I can't wait to play fallout 4 and max out Wasteland Whisperer so I can create a army of deathclaw guards for my settlements lol.

Also @Elder Long the Wanamingos are not actually aliens they were just mistaken for aliens, they are supposed to be genetic bio weapons like the Deathclaws but their origin is pretty ambiguous on weather they are mutants or FEV tailored weapons. Personally I liked them and thought it would be interesting to see them in a DLC just in a base game, I had wished they would have made it in 3 the concept art was pretty cool.
