Doesn't seem like a bad key...only key I'm not a fan of using for stuff is Caps. Likely will switch some things but Q for VATS seems handy.

I am just used to the "V" key. Also 3rd person key different. Oh well at least its customizable.

All's good as long as it allows remapping. Not like Witcher 3, where lefthanded players are given no alternative to WASD.

Also its not listed, but am guessing dialog options will be 1-4?
Those are usually reserved for quick items, I think...

not while in dialog

though also could be the WASD keys for the dialog options

Kinds of dissapointed I don't see any hotkeys for quick access to the Item, Stats, Quest or Map menus.

Might not be likely...I'm thinking either mouse or mouse wheel. Dialogue works like looting, it pops up with your crosshairs over the person (unless you're in cinematic mode for dialogues) and for the most part most of your controls should still be available...so however that looting system is used, is likely how dialogue will be handled too, since both are "live" and wouldn't want to steal controls away.

Looking at the looting, I imagine mousehweel (D-pad on consoles) does up/down, then there's A and X...so translate that to leaked PC controls and you might have a rough idea how dialogue my work as far as PC controls.

Likely non-default keybind options, or simply not there...but if I had to guess they simply vound the same sort of controls console has, but in options you might see un-set ones for stuff like that. Or a mod....either way I need "I" for at least the first page of the inventory tabs, and "M" for map...the rest I'm okay with navigating too since the new UI on the PB looks better...but I and M are needed...checking them too often lol

"Hotkeys for Quick access"
And like I said there may be farther keymapping options. The book/Presets likely cover the more basic layout (hopefully). If not the new Pipboy UI looks much better so it shouldn't be too bad.

there has never been hot keys for opening quests in fallout why would they change that now?

Why? Did they change the keyboard binds from the PC standards that have been around for 25 years?

I started a new game in Oblivion yesterday, I was in the starting dungeon sequence and was trying to loot the body of a mythic dawn member, I kept pressing the "E" key and my character kept on jumping, it didn't cross my mind that the space bar was used for looting, I'm now so used to using the spacebar for jumping, but that was how it was back then.

They swapped the functions of the e key and spacebar back with fallout 3, and stuck to that configuration afterwards.

Once in a while they tend to reconfigure their default key layout.

Like Todd Howard said. While we may look at it as their next game since FO3, they look at it as their next game since Skyrim. Remember it's built off of where skyrim left off as far as engine and base elements. Also I swear either 3 or NV had a map button, either way there's almost NO reason not to add options for keymapping certain Pip boy "tabs" if not the different "pages" of those tabs.

Hey I'm just saying, lol.

Idc either way, as it's not something I'd complain without, and not something a mod can't likely add "Expanded Hotkeys" can already see that on Nexus lol

Just not really ruling it out...you know people weren't even aware you could assign number hotkeys to items on Skyrim's favorites list? (Likely how number assignment will be in FO4 from what we now know...so not like how it was in 3/NV)
