Surviving fat man direct hit
I was wondering if you can surfive a direct hit by a fat man with maxing out endurance and all available damage reduction perks only.

Well was thinking about to someday make a strenght, endurance maxed char only, focusing fully on melee both specials offer all needed perks i for that think. Might even be a good choice for an idiot savant build..no gun nut needed..so no int needed. Still fighting a nuke runner mutant..in melee...uhh..What damage does a nuke..energy and radiation i think..any physical damage?

I took a leg shot and barely survived , it wasn't a direct hit though, but it destroyed both of my power armor legs.

Honestly, the nuke runners are SO MUCH EASIER as a melee build than w/ guns.

Let them get close, swing, watch them die. Just that easy.

VATS them if you aren't great at timing your attack right when they run up on you (can take some getting used to), and they pretty much fall over.

Melee builds have more damage bonuses than ranged builds. Heck, one perk gives you a 50% damage bonus whenever you're standing still, which absolutely works in VATS.

Anything a gun can kill, a hammer will kill faster, provided that you're close enough to hit them w/ it.

...which is honestly pretty easy if you use your sprint or take Ninja.

I think there is even a perk that increases melee range or something.

more than plain perk DR could make the difference having the armor modded to absorb explosions

I just survived on by a raider. She was a poor shot. :)

You can. I found wearing power armor, shooting up on medex, and having the rooted perk and the tough perk made me JUST barely survive a mini nuke.

Perhaps mines are a good way to finish nuke mutants. If one walks right at you..drop a mine and walks backwards...

the Fatman does like 450 damage

You might be able to get away with a direct hit if you max endurance.

You can take the Toughness which increases your damage resistance. You can also take Adamantium Skeleton which should prevent limb amputation.

You can take life giver which gives you +60 points of health and a slow health regeneration.

Stack ontop of that Rad Resitsance to descrease the damage you take, then also get Ghoulish which lets radiation heal you.

Then get into a X01 power armor and spec it for radiation resitance.

Iv'e had a fat man go off near me but not a direct aimed character hit.

There is a reason they whistle, when you hear it, run.

All togethere they have like 1000 points, the legs are like 250-450 depending on the variant.

Explosive resistance items likely would help a lot. Being they reduce damage based on 15% stack that together with your natural DR and ya...
