Is it worth building emporuims in your settlement?
Can anyone tell if emporiums are worth building? Do you build them for the income or do they have better benefits?

I have a build space issue on my settlements. They seem happy enough with stage 1 or 2 of the vendor booths.

Other than having an easy place to sell off you extra loot.. Not really. Unless you recruit special vendors to your settlemetns to man them you do not get Legendary Items appearing in their store stock. They generate caps over time, but not alot.. such that your investments will be a long time in being recovered.

Build nothing but vendors , except for 4 farmers farming mutfruit, and you will get to the Benevelonent Leader Achievement.

i've just built some this playthrough, since i'm missing only the max happiness achievement. i built a clinic lvl3, a shop lvl 3 and a restaurant. they've 800 caps for me each shop, and they're extremely useful for that alone. consider also that the shop has mats so they're definetly worth for me.

I use them to sell stuff, and the general trader I buy all the junk that has parts I currently need in the workshop - so it's nice to have. Other than that, I put them in to increase happiness.

Mine hovers at about 85% in a fully functional settlement. I'm fine with that - seems pretty reasonable (you know what they say; you can't please everyone, all the time) and I'm not willing to jump through all the hoops just to get the stupid benevolent leader achievement.

...well, let me amend that to be fair. AT THIS TIME I'm not willing... :) maybe down the road a ways, when i get bored...

Build an ammo merchant shop in every settlement you got, you'll never be out of ammo =)

Fun fact: if you build a food shop, your settlers will all gather around to take a coffee after a day of hard work!

In short: Depends on the type.

General items: Worth it. Sells more than enough assorted junk to keep you building(And some of the harder-to-get materials to boot). Also, since you end up buying from it a lot it's a nifty exchange for the purified water/accumulated crud you obtain from filters/wandering.

Weapon Store: Loads of ammo. Need I say more?

Clothes Store: Eh, not that useful except if you want your settlers to all wear something different.

Food Store: Not that useful, but if you're a devout cook it might be worth the investment.

Clinic: On-Demand doctor and stimpacks/Radaways? Yesplease.

All in all, they're convenience buildings. Return on Investment is a looong way out but being able to grab a couple dozen bullets of each type, takign a few stimpacks and getting those pesky rads removed while dumping your loot is the main selling point of the shops.
