Level 4 Gun Nut Perk
I've only come across 1 new mod since maxing it out (and it appears to be a downgrade from a level 3 mod) - so does it actually unlock a decent amount of gun mods? Can't seem to find anything on the wikis... Cheers

There are only few hi-tech ballistic guns that require lvl 4 gun nut perk. If I remember correctly Gauss Rifle and Assault Rifle. Possibly the tri-barrel Minigun.

Beyond guns it unlocks better turrets, I generally max it so i can better equip my settlers and companions.

Heavy weapons also need high end Gun Nut perks. (A targeting computer for a missile launcher is 4 Gun Nut, 2 Science, on that note).

Outside of the Gauss rifle or wacky stuff like the railway rifle, you will soon enough find mods to loot for all of the average ballistic weapons. But it's much more convenient to be able to make them yourself.

I admit, my combat rifle and combat shotgun got their best recivers as loot before I was even high enough level to take GN3/GN4. but my assault rifle, gauss rifle, etc would never have all their mods I wanted without it.

Worth having past combat and assault rifles.

It's super weird how Gun Nut has the most value in the early game (10mm, hunting rifle and shotgun as the strongest possible things that spawn? yeah want a buff), and late game. But mid game it's like, "Whatever. I'll get combat rifle and combat shotgun mod drops before I can even craft them."
