Gordon Freeman does not speak; would you want him to? What would he sound like? It would be like the coka cola wars all over again.
if you watch nuclear armegedon, get frozen in a vault, watch your family destroyed, and then awaken in a world of mutants and death you are NOT going to be calm about that. you are going to be confused, at the very least. but this guy just talks like everything is normal. it doesn't fit, and that bothers many people.
Perhaps it really is just me. o_O I enjoy my protagonists voice alot also when when you confront Kelogg and choose the two 'revenge' style options he has some fantastic lines.
To be fair, the family and the destruction of the world do not seem that important regardless of the voice acting.
My character started planting corn to make glue and got romantically involved with a hot reporter before making a real effort to find/avenge the aforementioned family.
What I wish we had were different voice packs. His voice doesn't fit on anything other than a select few Western European ethnicities. Certainly doesn't fit on my Japanese character.
