Two Deathclaw Matriarchs fighting each other...

I saw two Deathclaws in the distance and approached while sneaking.
They were fighting each other for some reason, and both got down to about 25% when one of 'em ran off away from the other.
I shot at the one that was still there and it exploded into about 30 pieces, as though I had the Bloody Mess perk (I don't)? I followed the other one and shot it and that one also exploded.

Then I found some wild dogs and shot those, but they didn't explode. It was weird.

Lol i had a death claw make his way into my camp and the turrets didn't go off, I saw it had only a small chunk from its health freaked out and unloaded my 10mm and for whatever reason it exploded just like you described, I have no idea why as i don't have bloody mess either.

I happens often enough. Usually betwen mass pike tunnel west and westing estate on the road. Theres an area spawn trigger there. Some spawns are a death claw fight , mutants with a settler, dogs, millurk hiding, three mutants with miniguns, etc... It's like the annoying area triggered spawn by chestnut hillark reservoir.
