Any point in getting S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats above 10?
Only asking as I keep a change of clothes on me at all times to get my charisma to 10 whenever I'm in a city or something to make speech-checks easier and get better trade rates and things like that.

But would like having a strength above 10 allow me to carry more, for example?

I think that at lesat 11 is counted because you can put perk points to special. When maxed 10, get boblehead to get it 11.

yes, the stat still grants more damage/benfits when above 10.

Yes I'm pretty sure it's used as a multiplier. It's not all scripted to only work up to 10. So if you wore the correct clothes and got say 16 Strength then yes your carry weight would go up according to 16 not 10 Strength. Don't bother with that whole Bobblehead to 11 thing unless you are going to get the SPECIAL Stat to 10 early on because you NEED it. Only stat I see this applying to is Intelligence though. Other stats are NOT worth getting to 10 unless you have a melee build then maybe Strength.

Thanks guys, and especially this:

With Charisma at 11 you can have 21 people in your settlements, so I would at least assume it works for the other stats too.

I had no idea that Charisma had an impact on how many settlers you could have. I only have 5 CHR normally, but I use clothes to get it to 10 for hours at a time in cities and stuff.

Maybe that's why the populations in my settlements are fluctuating so much :P

Anyway, thanks all. I'm only used to Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and there the limit was 10 no matter what you did, so this is good news!

The default settlers you can have is 10.

Charisma increases that by every 1 point of charisma you have.

For example if you have 6 charisma you will be able to have 16 settlers in total. If you have 10 charisma you will have 20, also do note that items(armors) that give charisma will add that too.

So if you have 10 charisma and since the default settlers is 10 you will have 20 add to that the charisma you get from gear you will have, for example if you get a suit that haves 3 charisma and a hat that has 2 charisma you will have in total 25 settlers for your settlement.

Do understand that if you remove the Charisma gear you have you will no longer have 24/25 settlers and will revert back to 20/21.

Oh, so like a Marshall amp, it goes to 11 :)

In 1,2 & (I think) 3 it didn't help to get over 10. !0 was the highest.

Lol "it goes to 11" :D Love Spinal Tap...

Anyway, what you (Mr.Hmm) say now seems a bit messed up (the game system I mean, not you... of course I don't know you, but...)

Anyway, if the max population is based on your charisma, i feel it should be based on your actual 'perked' charisma, and not on whatever clothes you're wearing at the time or what you drink.

I only have CHR 5 but have 18 settlers in Sanctuary (been stable all along), but others fluctuate between 10-15 all the time. This has been a head-ache to me!

Having people moving in and out of my settlements based on what I'm wearing is not very good...

But it's pretty funny though :D
