They do need to patch it because the armor makes my pipboy either completely invisible or just really hard to read.
Try reading your armor's mods.

Its the Chameleon effect from one of your armor pieces.
Wait for a couple of seconds after you stop moving. Your Pip Boy will be invisible until your weapon is back and settled in the ready position, essentially. Also, use a scope instead of sights...
It's quite possibly very deliberate, reflecting that if you could easily read the Pip Boy, your enemies could also spot the clearly lit-up screen standing out against everything else.
Good idea, I'll try putting a scope on my sneaky gun.
