Seriously, ditch gamebryo!
Very good job of porting the gamebryo engine to 64-bit, bravo, but it was wasted effort when you could have more easily ported all your other stuff over to UE4 or even CryEngine, actually good modern game engines.

I believe everything that can be has been squeezed out of gamebryo, as is apparent from how fallout 4 practically looks no better than skyrim from 2011 (doesn't play much better either, but at least it's not running out of memory anymore which is a big improvement, perhaps the only one)

This game engine is antiquated and buggy to the point where you have to develop and maintain it yourselves. This game engine is so bad you would probably be better off writing a new one from scratch than continuing to use it, but why not use the work already done by others in Unreal Engine, or hell id Tech! id Tech can't be worse than this, and you practically have it in-house already since you're under the same publisher. All the "shiny graphical features" added to fallout 4 over skyrim (which were already added to skyrim via mods) were already readily available in unreal engine 4 and cryengine out of the box (and a lot more) not to mention they're much more stable and they're even cross platform now, imagine that (or is that thought horrid to bethesda? Don't think I haven't noticed how id software all of a sudden stopped it's cross platform support when they were bought up by bethesda softworks, i hold you responsible)

Just give up on this dying dog and move on to something more modern or face disappointment when TES VI won't be quite as popular as TES V.

Fallout 4 is already being called out in reviews for being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game because of all it's bugs. Bugs that sometimes may date all the way back to morrowind's time. This game engine is now far behind everything else, deal with it, stop being so ♥♥♥♥ing attached to dead software.

I don't care if you switch to Unity or a no-name engine like BigWorld (World of Tanks) just... not this piece of crapware you've been using since the start of 2000

Funny how you talk about all the bugs when this is regarded as the most stable game release yet.

Amazing, another person talking trash on the steam forums, who doesn't even own the game on steam.

Stable as in doesn't crash to desktop anymore (because it has access to enough memory for the first time since Oblivion)

It's still buggy as ♥♥♥♥. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dug_GySNKg

Mind you that when most developers make games this buggy, people rage at them, it's like bethesda gets a free pass from many people because their bugs are so bad they are actually funny.

Thing is though, they've developed this engine to make their particular brand of RPG over a very long time as you say. Can you even take deep-seeded RPG mechanics from something like that and simply place them within Unreal or CryEngine?

Your right, the bugs have gotten too old by this point. The engines you mentioned are great for relatively simple games. I always wondered if the fairly laggy performance of Ark on high end machines was down to the fact it's the first game of that sort of depth & scale built on Unreal tech.

Is this a joke or do you just know that little about game design and programming. Unreal in particular is one of the most moldable engines around, next to Source.

Also, "Deep-Seeded" isn't how I'd describe the RPG mechanics in FO4.

ROFL he expects some triple AAA shooter engine to be swapped out for the engine that bethesda has been using for almost a decade. I dont get these kids, they have obviously never taken a programming class, let alone a game design course.

Hell no, they've been getting simpler with ever ygame, they've been changing with every game, they're not deep seated and I'm sure they can change them again in a different engine.

I think the real kicker is their modding tools, porting that to a different engine will probably be the biggest challenge.

I actually have taken quite a few programming classes... and researched a lot about game design, have you?

still better than the TOR forums. every other day they have a new the engine sucks bioware get the interns to swap it to the frostbite engine topic.

Its obvious they took no risks with this game, everything new in Fallout 4 we already knew was there. It is almost like they barley cared to improve on the game, they just made a sequel.

Also the horrible PC port

^^^Says a person that has no idea what it actually entails to write an entire game engine from scratch.

When is YOUR game coming out, 2020? I bet it will be buggy too since it will be your first release on this new engine. But hey maybe in 2024 after you realease a couple more games with your engine, and get you get better working with your engine, you can release more stable games.

Or as you said,

"you would probably be better off writing a new one from scratch than continuing to use it"

so that you can get your next game out sometime before 2027, and hopefully THAT first release on your second engine from scratch will have 0 bugs at launch. 0 bugs in pre-alpha too.

I do actually, the thing is this game engine needs so much modification to get up to speed compared to the other popular engines that they might as well start over. Hell, they might as well have started over instead of porting it to 64 bit, do you know how big of a task that is to begin with dude?

Even though its the creation engine, which is based on Gamebryo, but isn't it. The next one will likely be based on the creation engine.
