Should I start cheating to get level ups?
I'm around 85 now and just...I wanna get more stuff should I just start using the console commands to level up to get the perks I want and all?

Once I "beat" the game I used console commands to raise my level as now all I do is walk around murdering stuff with my minigun...

Yeah, I started with a utility build really(high INT) so I didn't start picking up damage perks till later on.
level 235 should perk and SPECIAL cap you if you got all the bobblheads player.setlevel 235 saves time. games not hard even on survivor, getting a higher level just speeds it up, which isn't bad since the story content isn't that awesone

honestly once i've finished the game with several endings and started spending more time playing it like a usual rpg game, lvl up cheats got things smoother. just resist the other cheats like caps and resources, since that would drastically decrease the fun of the whole experience

You could also just use the console to give yourself whatever perks you like, without leveling up.

As far as "should you" that's entirely up to you.

Maybe all the perks YOU want... does not mean all perks MAXED... that happens around lvl 275-300...

I've been using a variety of mods and settings to make the game more difficult. Until a mod is created to severely limit resources, these are the things I've done:

1. Survival Mode setting
2. Mod: Customize Legendary Enemy Spawning - I increased the frequency in which Legendaries spawn.
3. Mod: Settlement Raiding Mod - Have huge NPC raids on your settlements, including the Castle. Hard and Insane levels are truely that....Good luck!
4. Mod: Mortal Settlers - It makes the above mod that much more challenging. It also means that you have to make your settlers tougher to injure or kill.
5. Mod: Create Your Own Survival Rebalance - I wanted the damage to be more realistic and devestating. I have mine set at 50% and enemy NPC's at 400%.
6. Added mods such as D.E.C.A.Y and others to make the NPCs look and sound tougher.
7. I adjusted the game saves so it rarely occurs on its own, so I have to remember to save the game. It makes dieing more of a pain.

2 perks a level would have been a better softcap for the game. Perkpointsperlevel is the best mod that totally makes the game better from level 10-30, then from 30-60 you really start just flushing your character out with secondary perks.
