What is the best sniper legendary effect?
I have two legendary hunting rifles, one has 25% more damage and one has the two shot modifier. In the long run would the raw damage be better compared to two shots?

Instigator is the best. Double damage to full health targets.

Two shot fires two bullets, effectivly doubling your damage.

I have an anti-ghoul 2shot 50. It's got a short barrel, pistol grip and ironsights.

But what makes it good is the stagger from the bayonet that also lets you not have to work the bolt.

I say keep both guns, but I think doubleshot'll be better in the end.

I'd say this by far. Combined with a Sneak focused build and you can get some ludicrous numbers(Rifleman to boot).

What it doesn't tell you is that it reduces your accuracy and being a Sniper is all about accuracy and a deadly first strike.

Yes but you can put a muzzle brake and a long ported barrel on it, you can reduce the deviation.

Alright i will use the two shot rifle after i upgrade it.
Like BackSpaceHacker said... Go for Instigator if you can find it (got a 6crank laser musket I lovingly call One Shot Wonder)
As for the ones you have, 100% extra dmg with an extra bullet is always better than 25%, period :D

You'll wanna use the suppressor or muzzle brake and the marksman stock and the long ported barrel and such.

Nope, never had double shot not hit exactly on the scope's crosshair.

If it were me I'd be using the two-shot sniper at medium range, rather than long range.

Note that the Two shot does less than double damage, it's more complicated. See notes in:

Yes, you have to take into account that damage resist thresholds aren't pushed through because they're almost what is two firings from the weapon. So if your sniper does 70 damage and has two shots, for a total of 140 damage it's not 140 damage against say, something with 70 damage resist/ballistic resist.

It's still more complicated. Just read the wiki.

Explosive seems to be the best I've found. It's AOE effect allows for some epic fun. It's not the most profile but it does allow you to hit enemies who are hiding, and damage enemies who are too close to your target. I used a Explosive Hunting Rifle for Defending the Castle. I crippled scores of Synths who were attacking the castle, aimed at the ground below "groups" of them to cripple their legs.

Explosive only adds 15 more damage, but seems to be effected by the explosive perk as my hunting rifle has a base of 110, but is at 144 damage. which means I have a total of 34 additional damage added by explosive, but the splash damage itself is evil.
