Can't build certain things in certain places?
As much as Ive enjoyed Fallout, 4, it really has tried my patience quite a few times with all the glitches and bugs. Most recently Ive come to realize that the game wont let me build improvements in certain places. For example, although all my settlements are linked and I have hundreds and thousands of each type of material, it refused to let me build a bar on the pier i build right outside Nordhagen Beach. Im not talking about the item being red and just not being able to place the thing. Im talking about that particular store having completely disappeared from the options. Could still build a clinic, clothing store, trading post, etc...just no bar. It took me walking up to a different part of the settlement to get the option to appear again, and then walking back to my pier with the bar in red to be able to place it finally.

I had hoped it was a one-off kind of thing, but now Ive just arrived at Boston Airport to spruce up the place and make it habitable ,and for over an hour ive been trying to make a recruitment beacon. Nope. Won't do it.

Has anyone else experienced what Im describing, and did you find any way to fix it for good?

Thanks.

Ran into a player with a similar issue over on the Bethesda forums. Turned out that the problem was building over water. Even if you can make it happen, NPCs won't go there.

I have a Similar thing at Hangmans Alley " Not Water Related ", but none of the Settlers will go down to the end of town where the Chained Door is, no matter what I build or how I rearange it, or assign them it just shows as assigned but no one ever goes down there.

Hrmmm...well that would certainly explain the issue at Nordhagen Beach (although they should really fix that). But Boston Airport settlement isn't immediately next to any water. Ughh this is infuriating. Is it possible that Preston needs to TELL me to create a settlement there before I can do anything else?

That's a definite "no". You don't need him to unlock more than a couple of settlements (the Castle being the only one I can think of). The rest will unlock if you complete their quest or just kill anything that moves.

As for the Airport issue, that may just be the game being hinky. I've run into placements where it must be exact before it will allow placement. One or two pixels to the left or right is a no-go and there doesn't seem to be any apparent reason for it. One work-around is to use foundation blocks and you can usually build on top of those with little problem. They're under Wooden Structures --> Floors if you didn't know already.

Yeah Idk. I tried every spot in the area, and the radio beacon doesnt even show up on the options. When I click on the lightblub in the workshop, it just shows three things to build.

The Airport is not meant to be an actual Settlement. You are really only supposed to craft a tower or something for a BoS quest there and that's it, nothing else.
