What's With Bulk Shipments?
Really. Over 900 caps for 25 screws? I can buy a kid's toy for 7 caps, and get a screw plus some other components from it. I can get a 2 cap dinner tray and get 3 aluminum from it. Did the developers maybe misplace a decimal point somewhere? Shouldn't it be more like 250 screws for 900 + caps?

This may just be an early game problem, and I'm sure some of you will want to tell me that with your 500,000 caps paying that much for a small box of screws doesn;t bother you. But, supposedly we're dealing with sane business people in these stores. Surely they should know that no one in their right mind is going to pay over 900 caps for a small box of screws.

i agree but i think they are put in for thos who would just "buy" things and not just go fam them up.... but all in all most anything is easy to get so the prices should go down on thos are the amount of side item go up

the shipments have no weight for starters and the price comes down fast depending on your charisma and perks, some are much better deals than others though, honestlyn ever looked at screws myself because I always had a surplus

Remember that all of those places you would get those items have things attacking/shooting and/or trying to eat you. The merchants surely would, and that would figure into the price. Your hypothetical aluminum tray would be less because you have to turn it into scrap yourself.

Also, game balance and they want you to explore, not buy all you need from merchants.

It's an effort thing, and I'm glad the option is there (I ran out of Ceramics late game of all things, because I slacked off on stealing every ashtray and coffee cup I saw) but I agree that the pricing is kind of insane at times.

If component items were worth even 1/10 of what they charged you, you would have infinite money.

Seriuosly, thousands of caps for 25 fiber optics? Hey I have about 400 fiber optics because I took Scrapper 2 and mulch lame lasers.... oh fiber optics are actually worth basically nothing if I want to sell it okay then.

Again, I'm glad they are an option. But I can agree the "economy balance(?)" pricing on them feels very silly. Especially if you didn't make your own slave farm pumping out hundreds of water every time you visit.

The game is much, much different without economy or loot perks, nevermind the water purifiers. But because they are an option, you get people screaming at you that "That's not how the game is" when you bring up that you only have barely 6k caps once you hit level 40, even though you never buy anything.

Actually this makes perfect sense.

From a gameplay perspective: if buying in bulk is cheap, then searching for material and collecting junk isn't worth the effort.

From a real world perspective: if I take the time to search for items and scrap those items for material, I expect to get paid. It's a bit like going to a restaurant, you don't pay for the actual food, but for the preparation and the service.

Hell, I'm level 27, and I don't have 100 caps on me. I have 2 stars in scrapping, 2 stars in ammo scrounging, a 6 in charisma, and I still get these riculous prices for items that are basically nothing. Let's face it; if you take apart one looted firearm, there's going to be at least 5 or 6 screws in it. Look at all the screws you have to use to put anything on said firearm.

Oh I'd definitly expect some effort mark up.

Just not "it costs 2k caps for 25 of these, when they sell for 1-2 caps each" mark up.

I mean, the pricing for things like ceramics (which is what I was short on most recently) and plastics feel reasonable despite they being an over 100% increase in price, even if you are not pumping out pure water to sell. Because those are just 400ish tops caps (with 10 charisma) range.

But a lot of the shipment pricings are pretty WTF.
