Main Quest "Burning Cover" Glitched, Cannot Continue (RAILROAD MQ SPOILERS)

So I was doing the railroad main quest "Underground Undercover", and completed mass fusion for the institute. At that point, the Railroad MQ should have continued, but it didn't. After doing some research, I found others had it bugged out as well. Out of frustration, I killed Father (And just about everyone else in the institute afterwards) and escaped.

In the next quest, I was supposed to talk to Preston Garvey and he would agree to help with the Railroad. But for me, he refused, and the quest ended. And no other quest started.

Did I just fail the main quest, or is this a glitch?

My burning cover quest still tells me to talk to preston but I have the next quest thats supposed to be after it where I talk to sturges to find another way into the institute.

No clue. I literally just decided to abandon the main quest. Good luck, though.

I had the same issue :( So sad this Discussion didn't have a solution. I complete many of the BOS/ MINUTEMEN and RAILROAD side quests and I had the Outside of the Wire quest from the BOS still pending in my pipboy and with the Railroad I had the Underground Undercover quest where I needed to meet Z1-14 to continue with the ending mission of the Railroad. I didn't continue that mission and I got banished from the Institute after I started killing everyone in the Institute. After that, another quest popped up called burning cover where I needed to talk with Desdemona to tell her I got banished from the Institute, she asks me to join forces with the Minutemen to be able to fight the institute. After that the Quest tells me to go talk to Preston Garvey and when I do I have an option called "Attack the Institute" on Preston Garvey's Dialogue box but when I choose any of the options I have there for example: Would you help me? Preston says why in the hell would you fight with the institute and the conversation ends and that's it. If I try to talk again with him it shows the normal generic Companion dialogue, I am not able to find a solution for it and unfortunately restart the game is not plausible as I did A LOT of sidequest prior to doing the ending missions.

Load a prior manual save from before the quest finished.
