Spudgunner has Fallout 4

Piper wont wear clothes.

After i lent her my spare set of power armour piper decided that clothes were unnecessary even out of power armour so should be ignored even if they give damage resistances. This includes when i give her new things to wear in case i can tempt her back to the land of the clothed. Suggestions?

Is there an "equip" option when exchanging stuff? Companions who can equip custom armor/weapons won't do so unless you tell them to

Highlight the clothing in her inventory and press "T"

Give her an outfit and press the equip key in the trade menu with the outfit highlighted in her inventory. The default key for this is T

you have to equip the clothes on your followers, the only thing I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate though is that you can't give Piper a gun and have her use it, she'll default to her ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pistol every time.

Because she has no ammo for the other gun.
You have to give them ammo if you want them to use another weapon.

Yup. That's true even if the weapon type would normally use the same ammunition as their default weapon. It's a pity that you can't borrow their default weapon to mod it into something better (at least w/o using console commands, which probably makes it possible).
