When he was invisible I was still able to talk to him and interact with him, just couldn't see him. I noticed his hit box and foot prints didn't match up with each other or where I was looking to talk to him which might explain why people's quest markers showed a non-interactible companion.
This worked for me! I seen someone else edit Curie so this was my first shot. Followed a youtube video. Which worked great, until I changed her face and the hair went all across the screen in a weird glitch and Curie just slowly disapeared in front of my eyes!! Found this and it worked! Now that its 1:30am for me, I need to go to sleep! LOL From what I seen before I shut down, she wasn't talking when I spoke to her... ugh. Another issue to fix! This is what I get for messing with background ♥♥♥♥ ;) Thank you!!

I had similar issue, (Nora spouse mod and bunch of gun mods), i tried enable/disable npc etc it didint work. Then i take companion gun and she appeared like normal. If you have similar issue try replace your companion gun with other guns.
Did you ever stop to think people might still be having an issue? Shush
THIS WORKED FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Prob spent over 2 hrs looking for a fix to to a 100% invisible and not contactable, no sounds or anything companions. Tried 5 different companions with everyone elses "Fix" that dint work. THIS WORKED!!!
BUT, I've found a fix for me that i think will help others, hopefully.
Exactly as I did it, using Cait as an example;
>go to place where you recruited the companion
>"Prid 00079305" - to select the ID
>"openactorcontainer 1" - Take everything you might have stored on the companion
>"recycleactor" - Resets companion to default state at time of initial spawn, close console/re-open.
(Reported to cause everything about the npc (affinity, quest progress, etc) to reset to 0, but read further for my report.)
>"disable" (and immediately) "enable"
I was in combat zone when I did this process and she appeared where you first recruit her with nothing equipped but she did have her initial gear in her inventory.
I was also at the entrance to Combat Zone, she spawned in the arena and teleported to player character shortly after and immediately engaged in conversation about how i've been neglecting her and she just wants to get back on the road.
So far, normal interaction is fine and she is following along with no issues. It even seems that the affinity wasn't reset !!
I really hope this works for someone else, I've spent the last several hours freaking out about this and just about gave up before trying this last ditch effort.
