Invisible Companion Glitch
Recently and rather randomly, my game has been hit by a bug where any companions that gets attached to be becomes invisible. As utterly not a trace there invisible. I know they're not somewhere else because i am able to (when i can get into a confined space) been able to E them in their invisible form. However, Im unable to open any sort of dialogue menu with them and this bug not only transfers itself to whatever companion i get but also remain permanent on the companion.
I tried console commandes, validating and reinstalling the game. Any tips to fix this bug?

What console commands did you try?
brought up the character ID and made moveto. It doesn't work since the game registers the character as 'there'. Hes just invisible and uninteractable. I just tried the same thing again. Swapped Deacon with codsworth, the moment i sent fast travel, codworth became invisible, deacon remained invisible at the settlement i sent him to.

Not sure of any other command that set characters to 'visible'. Also, I can't talk to dogmeat if thats any help.

Happening to me too, except I don't want to use commands, Codsworth is where I left him but Dogmeat and Preston are nowhere to be seen.

I just encountered this too and found no fix anywhere online. for somereason I couldn't find Nick Valentine and used console to teleport him to me but he wouldn't teleport. then i tried teleporting to him and i fell into the ocean. turns out he was standing there in a default 3d model pose next to the vertibird for the Show No Mercy mission which is currently glitched and not letting me ride it. I then tried to reload my file and fast travel to the airship to talk to him and now he's invisible. I can't talk to him or bring up dialog except telling him to "move to" which he doesn't do. this same issue (minus the invisible and stuck part) happened to dog meat ever since I started the "Show No Mercy" quest.

seriously bethesda fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game already. we're overdue for a damn patch.

I don't know if this will work for you or if you still need this but I'll say how I fixed the problem for anyone else who might need help. So in my case X6-88 was invisible for me I had a mod the turned him into a female (I know I'm weird) I felt this would make X6 a little more unique it also changed the voice so it wasn't the weird. But I'm getting off track. Anyway I was trying everything to make her not invisible and found one thing that worked for me. I found her by teleporting her to me ( to do this in the console use prid (companionid) to get the ref id then moveto player) afterward I found her using the settlement workshop mode because it still highlighted her. I then used in the console ShowLooksMenu or slm I changed her hairstyle and she went invisible again. So in the console I used disable then enable and there she was again. If this didn't work try doing resetactor in the console and repeat the steps. WARNING: If you do use reset actor it will reset affinity and any items you gave him/her will disappear so make sure you get any items you don't want to lose out of their inventory first! Sorry this was so long but I hope it helps you or anyone else in the future who might need this!

I found out how to fix my issue. after I had to finish Show No Mercy on foot, I THEN had to use a vertibird summon grenade and fast travel anywhere. this fixed all my companions i was having issues with.

I FIXED IT! my problem was that curie was invisible. she was still walking around and doing her thing. I could select her and trade with her, but i couldn't see her.

The fix is:
open console and typ
help *companion name* 4 (for me it was help curie 4)

find the first NPC code and typ
player.placeatme *NPCcode* (for curie it was player.placeatme 001647c6

you should now get a copy version of that companion who is NOT invisible
go to console again and click the copies chest area, you should get a code on the top of the console.

now typ
slm *thatcode* (for curie it was slm ff000824)
I than changed the hairstyle of that copy and saved her looks.
Than in the console click the copy and typ disable
To delete the copy.

Now go to your invisible companion and in the console click on the companion's chest
slm *thatcode*

This part was tricky, she didnt became visible at ones.
While I was scrolling through the hairstyles she became visible :)

Hope this helps

You don't need to make a copy of your companion. You can use the refID to fix the problem affecting the "original" companion, just look it up on the wiki.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Codsworth
This is the wiki page for Codsworth. Look up your companion on the wiki, and you'll find the refID for your companion under "additional info" in their stats.

Just encountered this, and found a very easy, simple fix that worked for me. Codsworth was invisible. I opened the console, clicked on him, and typed "disable" then "enable", closed the console, and then he reappeared.

If you're having trouble clicking on your companion, look up your companion's refID (reference ID) on the wiki. Codsworth two refIDs: an apocalypse ID and a Pre-War ID. If you're having this problem with Codsworth, make sure it's the correct one, NOT Pre-War.

The Fix
Type and enter these commands with the console once you've found the refID for your invisible companion (the example below is for Codsworth, replace with invisible companion's refID):
prid 0001ca7d
disable
enable

Close the console and your companion should reappear.

This worked for me, so i guess a fix is found.
i should note that it didnt work that simply for me, as they didnt reappear instantly, so i used the "TargetID.moveto player" command, and my companion was right next to me.
i thought hancock was gone for good, too many chems made him invisible. :steamhappy:

Must be nice being able to use the console. Playing on survival disables that, and I do not intend to lower the difficulty.

And I don't intend to mod the game, because I still want to unlock all my achievements.

Cait turned invisible for me, heck I can't even target her, yet if I pick a new companion I can send her to a settlement. I have'nt checked if she turns visible again.
