However, you won't be able to afford a $300 card in a $500 build. I've seen refurbished 960's around $160 when they are on sale which would definitely run Fallout 4 pretty decently.
Refurbished GTX 960 ~ $180
Case ~ $60-$80
PSU ~ $80
Motherboard LGA 1150 ~ $100
CPU i5-4590 ~ $185
CPU cooler ~ $30
8 Gigs DDR ~ $50
HDD ~ $50
Total still is around ~ $750 without buying monitors, keyboard, mouse, speakers, OS, etc.
To get closer to 600:
-Could reuse an old case and/or PSU
-Could downgrade to i3 with a cheap mobo
-Could "obtain" Windows somewhere
If you start skimping on parts, I'd definitely get some feedback about the specific part so that you know you aren't giving up something you can't live without.
Our dollar isn't worth ♥♥♥♥ at the moment.
It cost $460 just to upgrade my GPU to play this game. And that was buying on sale.
Well i run amd since i cant afford a good intel system. you can see my stats in my profile. i run at max settings.
for 600 dollars you can get an FX6300 witha decent motherboard and 8 gb of memory. A cheap case with a bronze 650 watt power supply and 1tb harddrive. Also an R9 380 and the dvd drive plus the disk drive.
I added it up at newegg. comes to 574. you should be able to play at medium settings with this setup.
Of course that doesn't include the keyboard, mouse, speakers or headset, operating system, or monitor.
Ya even for 600 dollars your screwed.
The only likely conclusion I can draw is that they are moving from laptop to desktop, but if that is the case then wouldn't an external gpu be a better solution owing to the limited budget. Just get a kit, and plug a powerful card into it. Then once you get enough money together you can give that card a proper home.

You need at least 600 USD for pc, to play this on high, some ultra,(godrays=low) 1080p settings only!
This is some more ignorant information. If you are smart with your build, you can easily build a $600 PC that will last a few years and leave room for future upgrades. My PC is going on four years old and all I've done is upgraded the GPU and I can run every game on ultra settings at 1440p. Build a base PC now but pick parts that will be suitable for upgrading in the future.
You know pc parts in AUD is nothing like USD right?
Lol AUD don't even go there mate, our economy is a disgrace right now!
