Settlements Require Infinite Power Glitch
So basically for the last week or so any settlement that I add/remove generators in, or even add anything that require power, will require an infinite amount of power. Anyone have a fix?

Make sure anything that requires power is properly connected or else the meter will read red.

Everything is connected. First thing I checked.

How many items do you have on the generator? small and wind are 3 power each, medium is 5, large is 10, be sure all your devices together doesn't exceed the total output

Light bulbs seems to be infinate, but things like spotlight, laser turret, recruitment tower, etc need a required ammount

Well I have ~15 generators that are all wired up together, and quite a lot of items.

Well you can test if it's truly is infinite or just a lack of power. Highlight one of your generators in the console and find its ref ID, then type "getav 32e" this will display the current amount of power produced by that unit, then type "setav 32e 100", that will mod an extra 100 units of power to that generator, Enter and exit the work shop mode to see the new changes, if you're items still lack functionality after that then you have some strange glitch, if they work it's simply lack of power. To remove the change use a negative number like "setav 32e -100"

Yes, however, this happened before I installed any mods that could affect this. The only mods that I use that affect settlements are Safe SSex and Homemaker.

If your power is red, that usually means you have something somewhere that requires power but which is not hooked up. If you have a confusing wire layout, you might think something's hooked up when it isn't.

at this point in time there isnt a really safe way to mod the game , fo4edit isnt complete so the mods made are sketchy at best , if you have issue with the games base functionality thats where to look (mods) , the mod thats causing you trouble might not seem related to the problem ,
also dont use the cleaner functions in fo4edit till the ck is released and fo4edit is updated .

adding mods and using the console at this stage with so many unknown factors is a crapshoot , you cant really know what you're affecting .
verify the game cache ,
and i found the custom.ini txt file in my docs is the place to make any changes to the .ini's (it over-rides and works without actually adding or changing the ini files .
just be carefull , i have some mods installed (nothing with a script base) and if i encounter a problem thats the first place i look , and so far that's where the problem has been

Yeah I have nothing that adds or modifies scripts either, but I feel like a mod isn't an issue here as that would require in some way editing the generators, which none of the mods I have installed have done.

see thats the problem at the stag nobody can be real certain as to what they are changing till the ck is released ,
also the games still in its infancy patch wise , there's so many variables it's hard to take into account whats going on .
i would verify the game and see what happens , if the .ini files are the only files required then then you know the base game is sound (make copies of them as .bak files) .
if more than the 2 are re-installed then you might be good to go

I have a similar problem, but instead of requiring infinite power, i have infinite AMBIENT power, so my cages never close. I need help getting rid of this, i cant do deathbattles or spawn deathclaws!
