How to get Hostile relations with the brotherhood of steel

I finished the nuclear option with the minutemen and i want to do the our powers combined quest but i have to have hostile realtions with the BoS but can't find a way to do it, ive been shooting down their vertibirds and killing any i see but the quest does not trigger, is there anyway to get hostile with them? (note i never did Dances quest and he seemed to have disapeard when i failed his quest so i think that might have something to do with it)

Are they hostile to you already? If they aren't I would try attacking their airport since they will have the most people there as sometimes their vertibirds don't count.

If they are hostile you have to go back and talk to preston and tell them that they're hostile or that you want them removed and that should do it. You don't get a quest about it until after the game, they're hostile and you talk to preston

I have tried killing them all at the airport but after i kill everyone there i don't get anything indicating that i should talk to preston, i have attacked them during the battle of bunker hill quest and when they drop off guys to fight super mutants i kill the guys they dropped off and the verti bird they came in (i did not save after incase killing them at the airport would have been just a waste of ammo and time but one time i belive they started having guys randomly walking around the wasteland that were hostile by default)

You don't get a notice to talk to preston, you have to do that on your own accord. It's kind of a hidden quest in that sense. If they attack you on sight then they would be hostile so you'll know that much at least and if they are then you have to speak to him and tell him that they're hostile

Yeah theres not much of an indicator, it just makes them hostile.

I went and killed all the ground guys at the airport but there is no option to tell preston that they are hostile or anything

right after i tried to see if there was new dialoge with preston i walked away but then he said "best way to deal with the brotherhood of steal is to stay out of their way" not sure if that would mean anything

Ways to become an enemy of the Brotherhood:
- killing any named character pertaining to the Brotherhood (e.g. Ingram, Kells, Maxson, etc);
- doing Institute's Mass Fusion instead of Brotherhood's Spoils of War, or relaying to the Mass Fusion building/siding with the Institute, while starting either or them;
- doing Undeground Undercover for the Railroad;

Once you are enemies with the Brotherhood, simply talk to Preston and ask him about taking down the Brotherhood.

Note: if you destroy the Brotherhood through With Our Powers Combined, you won't be able to loot some specific items, such as Maxson's battlecoat and his unique laser gatling gun.

Shoot Elder Maxson. Good way to piss off the brotherhood is to kill their elder.
