NPC Spawning where you want them
So a lot of people have already figured out to use player.placeatme <id> <ammount> and have had their npc's spawn right on top their player. This is fun and all, but it makes for a stressful situation trying to get out of a circle of 9 deathclaws. I've been looking for a good way to spawn NPC's without having to turn on God mode or have to run for my life the moment they spawn. I found a few little tricks so you can spawn NPC's where ever you want them to be...

To spawn an NPC in a specific area, go to the spot you want them to spawn. Open your console and click on an object in that area to get it's ID. For instance, there is a rusted out vehicle in Santuary with the Object ID 001acf33. Now, when you spawn the NPC, instead of typing player.placeatme use the Object ID in place of player, eg:

001act33.spawnatme 1db4c 1 1500 90 <--- This will spawn 1 deathclaw facing East, 1500 distance points away from the spawn location which in this case, is a truck in the center of Sanctuary.

You can change the distance and direction to anything you want. For distance, you need to use big numbers, putting 100 will spawn the NPC right in front of you where as 1000 gives a little distance between you and it. Direction is pretty simple to grasp: 0/360 is north, 90 east, 180 south, 270 west.

If you want to set up a battle in your base to test out your defences, track down the object ID's of the NPC's you want to attack (Type: Help <NPCName> 4) then go around your base finding the locations you want the NPC's to spawn at. Open your console and click on the screen to get the ID reference of the location. Write that down! Then, flip back into windows and open Notepad. Write your script in Notepad, 1 string per line. You will type out your script the same way you would in the console. Once you have your script written, save it as .txt in the Fallout 4 folder (same folder that has the exe in it.) Then from your console, type bat <scriptfilename> and it will run the script you wrote. It's all fighting from there! *When calling the scriptfile, just use the filename and not the extention. So if your file is called script.txt just type "bat script" in the console.

There is no function called "spawnatme" in Fallout. There is "spawn", but it will spawn the NPC at your location, even if you will use the object ID.

*RAISES THE DEAD*

Three years later and STILL none of you have figured this out yet?

Wow.

Here you go:

XXXX.placeatme YYYY ZZZZ

XXXX= the ID of the object you want to use as your spawn location. Open console (~) and click on the object to get its reference ID#.
YYYY= the ID of the thing that you want to spawn some of.
ZZZZ= the # of said thing that you want to spawn.
.placeatme = the command to place object.

If you replace "XXXX" with "player" , then things will spawn at the player.

BONUS! Here's a pretty good list of NPC reference ID#'s:

Nice thread :)

The command line and batch files. Endless fun and no mods required :)

the "spawnatme" command does not exist. Why are you misleading people?
As others have said, it is .placeatme not .spawnatme

I really love narco threads.

If you have Wasteland Workshop DLC then you can spawn in all you want with cages.
