Fallout 4
Cryolator is soposed to be so crazy overpowered? or bug with damage display?
after i've put crystalizing barrel on that thing.. woo boy
it says 40 cryo damage + 40 ballistic damage ( 80 dmg total )
but weapon feels like its doing 200+ dmg

i shredded Legendary Charred Ghoul in barely 2 seconds
even something is wrong with VATS when using this weapon

for example it says it takes approx 5 shots to kill a target
.. it kills ... no ... shatters it into pieces after 2 shots non crit

Hmm, my gunslinger might take on heavy weapons as well, str is only 1 point short of heavy weapons. The light pistol carry weight might compliment the heavier weapons.

Also Flamer is great for starting up with heavy weapons
ammo is quite common in vendors and in large amounts and it does fair amount of damage when modded properly only downside is range

wow kneecaping one? thats seriously OP since flamer obviously has a very high rate of fire because its a flamer

higher ROF = higher chance of crippling with Kneecapper mod
BTW i have the cryo legendary Flamer xD i can freeze people with fire... like a Warcraft mage

You Can put a silencer on The gaus rifle. I have one with +25% damage. That does around 540 damage now I think and has a high crit multi. Mine is 6.5. Sandman and rifleman perk.

ya, i regret not using it, but it didn't really register as being great or anything, at the time... in hindsight though... meh

its powerful but there are more powerful heavy weapons than Flamer
like i said its good for starting your adventure with heavy weapons since its ammo is plentiful and ammo drain isnt too high unlike for example Minigun which eats up ammo in mere seconds

hunter, chameleon and lock picking... i keep getting those, over and over... Never had an explosive drop. Playing a gunslinger right now... my more notable drops, wounding board, assassin's lead pipe, vats sledgehammer *sigh*

I got a vats synth arm piece and an instigating bolt action pipe pistol early on, which remain the only really useful stuff. I got a lucky 10mm, which would be awesome, if i didn't already have deliverer.
what difficulty did you kill the ghoul?
Cryolator ammo is super hard to find once you are out, is the thing. It's super OP because it's a limited use weapon that runs off of unicorn tears. (Wiki's claim shops sell it, but I'm over level 50 and I never see it in any shops at diamond city or the prydwhen, for example).

The Alien Blaster was in the same boat in some previous games, because it ran on alien ammo. But in this game while still strong for an energy pistol. it's nowhere near as bonkers. Because you are allowed to modify it to take normal ammo (for "less" damage, but I see only -1 damage listing for that).

Honestly, it's enemy spawns more than the difficulty that is a factor there.

I'm post 50 and I still get a mix of "I can kill with one 10MM headshot, and I have no gunslinger perks" and "Well, that just tanked 5 fully upgraded combat shotgun blasts to the head all right" Ferals. While in the same general far down south radius of the map.

Enemy durability discrepancy is the biggest source of combat difficulty in the game, regardless of what difficulty setting you are on.

You will breath a sigh of relife when you see a gunner or raider wearing power armor, because they will take half as much ammo to kill than some Raider Veteran wearing trash armor or a Gunner Commander wearing half a suit of combat armor.

The only dangerous thing about Power Armor enemies is their tendency to have a Fatman. Just like the only dangerous thing about super mutants is when they spawn with a missile launcher (they seem to do this more frequently than human enemies, I have found) or a suicider gets too close.

Survival
Now I am not certain, but the cryolator does about 225 total base damage on my level 85 character, but that could also be boosted by the two perks I have, Heavy Weapons and Demolitions both at max, increasing the damage to 900. now with Bloody Mess and AAT magazine #9, it could go up to almost 1000 damage total, either I am wrong and with my perks included it calculates the damage up to 225 total with both HW an Dem perks maxed, it is broken and calculates the 225 damage after perks and everything multiple times for some reason, or a less likely answer, Bethsoft meant it to be OP. Likely it is broken and calculating the HW and Dem perks multiple times but only showing as calculating them once in the damage window of the pipboy, or, I could be completely off and since nothing in the game seems to have resistances to Cryo damage, it hits them for crazy damage and eats through their defences as if they have none... whatever the explanation, it is clear the Cryolator is crazy broken.

Edit: I forgot the other perks too, Lone Wanderer perk is maxed, giving a damage boost as well, and other general damage perks I have that I cannot remember right now. The Cryolator I think only gets OP if the pc has a lot of damage perks too.
