Settlement has stopped producing water
So I set up a huge number of water purifiers in sanctuary. It's like over 300 water. Used to make me a good amount of caps, as surplus water went to the workshop inventory and could be sold. But now it seems the production has stopped. Usually after fast travel or sleeping there was water. Now I slept 24 hours, went to another settlement, came back, slept again, still no water. Is it a bug? Or did they change something in the game? Help please.

Workshop inventory have storage limit. Just remove all your items in that workshop then sleep for a while worshop will have purified water.

I've read threads where people have suggested emptying the storage, and then putting everything back inside to fix this issue. No clue if there's a limit on the container itself though.

I did some more research. And managed to fix it. Possible fix a: empty the aid section of the workshop; possible fix b: build more purifiers. I did both, saved, quit the game, came back, slept and voila: water. Not sure which of the fixes did it though.

It was most likely the aid section.
Apparently someone figured out that if there's any dirty water in there, it might fail to store purified water.

Makes no sense, but eh ...

I ran into the same problem at a few settlements, the workshop storage does count torward the building.

Best to leave all your gear at a settlement you are not building on such as Red Rocket Gas station

I am not sure how the bug works. But it has occured again. Just emptying the aid section didn't work.

It seems related to the number of different item types in your workshop inventory. Taking everything out of the workshop made the water appear properly again. But where will I keep all my stuff now, my crafting materials and stuff? Dumping it all in the workshop was so convenient.

Open up your building with workshop go to furniture tab go into it scroll to the right into containers and make a storage box drop all your stuff into it.
