Any way to repair these damned roofs?
Hi, forgive my bad englsh but I'm too angry to translate correctly.
A lot of houses in settlements has broken roofs, but it seems to be impossible to fix them in any way!
Every thing I try to build there is marked red.

The best I was able to do is cover a good part of the roof, but many "holes" where is impossible to build enithing remaining.

Why they have filled the settlements of houses that can not be repaired or demolished?
This thing pisses me off a lot!

Pls ... we are already getting the ability to build institute furniture via mod.
Just wait until the creation kit is out, a week after we'll be able to build complete pre-war towns.

There are mods that allow for building when the thing turns red

I'd like that. I mean I can't be the only one that hates only having rusty walls to use for building.

I used the console commands modpos x, y, z and modangle x, y, z.
This mod makes it easier using the console commands, but you have to download autohotkey to use it.

Actually some of the most weaked buildings are surprisingly easy to restore. Unless your talking about the houses in the Santary.

The most impressive wreck I rebuilt would have to be the Coup Manner. Why? A Large section of the roof is flat out gone, two rooms have massive gaps in the walls. some of the floors are nothing but framework while there are some massive holes through the floor that are easy to fall through. Took some work but managed to put roof, up, patch up the walls seamlessly and fix the flaws in the flooring. It's a patch work job.

However I did it without any mods. And the final result is what I like best. It's a restored building that looks appropaite for the setting. In a post apocolypic setting a restored building would be a patchwork thing that works if nothing else. It's usuable the settlers don't get caught on anything or fall through the floor gaps. And it keeps the rain off their beds.

Nexus' fallout 4 mod site has a mod called I THINK 'Subtle Intersection' which allows you to slightly intersect objects with eachother.

Another trick you can use is setting TCL in the console opened by pressing the ` key. Well for some people its ` (next to 1 to the left) but for me its the ' key.

Whatever, TCL apparently allows you to place items anywhere you want, too. Not entirely sure if it works because i havent tried it.

I know what youre feeling. its realy frustrating atm to try to build sturdy looking structures. atm all we have are these rusty crap buildings and it makes sense sure for the first hour or so of the game but once we start getting rich, getting followers, becoming a leader, youd expect to be able to build something a little more high tech, or at least more sturdy than a piece of sh1t corrugated rusty steel wall with holes in it. Or wooden walls that look like they were made in shop class by 5 year olds.

thankfully there are mods that allow the placement of covenant walls but that's it so far.

I have to wonder why we can manually change the angle on building pieces when building, without having to use console comands.

The settlement building feels really tacked on, and I'm betting they couldn't figure out how to make all those extra commands work with controllers, so they just left it out.

It's weird because holding down shift lets you use the WASD keys to move through the building menu. I'm hoping we will see more things added to it to make it better though.

Most efficient way to "repair" the roofs in santuary hill is to build around the houses till you are above the roofs and then build a floor ontop of them. Or use those fundaments, there is a pure wooden one and one with concrete. Those fundaments are the only tile akaik that can sink into the ground or in this case into the damaged roof.

I realize this is many years after teh fact.. I went back to play after streaming series came out.. I juts found out I can repair barn roof by first placing the cupola on top of the damage section then snap a proper roof panel in.. took some position finagling but it worked.

Without mods, I'd suggest looking at Youtube, specifically for "carpet" and "pillar" glitch.

It takes a bit of trial and error, but you can actually really cover the roofs without using mods this way in a variety of different builds.

Many years!!!!??? How about 8 plus years. C'mon now that's ridiculous. Start a new thread!

Good pertinent updated information. Thanks, I was wondering the same thing.

Sure, you could have started a new thread but then we wouldn't have the necro police blood pressure go though the roof. Careful there my friend, I'd hate for you to suffer a stroke over something as trivial as a revived thread.
