Will it run?
Okay so I finally managed to get my Desktop up and running but I have a but of a question:
Went to www.Systemrequirementslab.com and checked to see if said Desktop could run the game. Turns out that everything but the video card meet the minimum specs (with the video card and CPU under the recommended specs). Anyway, with just the video card under-spec, is it going to be much of an issue or will I have to upgrade before playing?

The minimum is an NVIDIA GTX 550Ti 2GB/AMD Raedeon HD7870 2GB
I've got an AMD Radeon HD 7570 2GB

It might not looks so pretty or perform as well, not sure....

Well if it won't work NOW, then I'm actually selling a laptop to a relative of mine, could just make a trade, laptop (a Macbook) for a new video card. I'd rather have the money though >.>

as a heads up - The game is RAM Intensive - not really CPU or GPU intensive.

This is largely because of the high resolution Texture Files which are used for everything (Bushes has a texture file of 2048x2048, and they are the smallest ones). Which has created a big problem on even moderately good and high end rigs.

So if you get the game and it Chugs... don't jump immediately to the 'Get a new CPU/GPU!' as that might not fix all your problems.

Fair enough. The Nexus website has an optimised texture pack, would that be worth downloading?

if your ram and stuff passed it should run (probably on low), because i installed it on my older pc before i upgraded to a new one, and that one had a 1gb vid card, which ran fine on low settings.

At the moment I have a 560Ti 1GB VRAM and the game runs fine. I have a custom ini file because the Low settings in the launcher sacrifices the wrong type of visuals, looks horrendous, and performs just as bad.I also have some mods that improve performance by replacing the 2k textures with Skyrim quality. Just droping your shadow distance and quality can get you a lot performance gains.
you can run it at low settings

*Breaths a sigh of relief* Well I'll get the thing installed once I'm done resetting my Desktop. Nice little "Your survived the finals" treat for me I think =D

People have pointed out that the Optimized Texture Overhaul isn't being super effective (3-4% increase in frames?), and i personally don't understand how the textures he is overhauling are 'optimized'. When i got the mod it decreased my frame rate and caused my game to seize up.

the Vivid Textures on the other hand is a pretty straight forward change - cutting the resolution size of Landscape files (the most common texture you'll pull) in half, and i've noticed a marked performance increase in my game, as some zones which i found unplayable are now perfectly fine.

I got mine to run the other day , ran great until the part in the bathroom . Things loaded but the floors and were almost neck high. I tried messing with settings and now it wont even run it. So im sitting 9 hours of download again, I hope it works I dont think I can get my money back

I've found this quite a useful site to see if your computer can run a game... (Can You Run It)
