help renaming weapons - solved

It doesn't seem like I can rename my weapons. I am in the weapon work bench, and press Y (on controller) to enter the rename section, but I can only move the cursor around, I can't change any of the letters, add nor subtract. Is there a button you are supposed to press to add to it? I've even tried using only the keyboard (unplugged the controller), but still nothing.

It's incredibly frustrating.

Edit- It has to do with the name length, the longer names the game auto creates are too long to add characters to them, so they have to be completely renamed.

While modding the weapon you press T on keyboard or Y on controller. Not the work bench.

You might need to disable controller input in the options menu for the keyboard to work.

PS4 and Xbox use their system's virtual keyboard for text input, so it would seem no such functionality was programmed for the actual game.

Gotcha, I think I figured out the issue, it had to do with the name length. Trying to add an asterix in front of the ridiculously long names the game creates didn't work. I had to delete the whole name and give it a shorter one. So it did work on a couple of the legendary items that had shorter names. Oh, and I didn't need to unplug the controller, the keyboard worked fine.

Oh...yeah, that's not really an issue. You Have to delete the name first to rename. That's just part of it.
