Armor not showing up at crafting table.
Is anyone else having this problem? I have a slew of apparel and the only thing showing at a table is the 111 Vault suit.

What pieces of armor do you have when you go to the crafting table?

Trillby hat, tuxedo, various pieces. The only thing that shows up is my vaultsuit.

There are a lot of things that can't have anything done with them on the armor crafting table, even actual armor types like spike armor. Or army helmets.

Most clothing is right out except for your vault suit and certain predetermined outfits.

If you unlock ballistic weave, a bunch (but not all) clothing can have that added to it. and a few hats.

Awesome man. So essentially, ballistic weave will make more armors able to be crafted?

Every "proper" armor is craftable. ballistic weave is just for CLOTHING items.

leather, raider, metal, combat, and synth armor are all craftable by default and take two kinds of mods each.

Ballistic weave is great and incredibly broken (keep an eye out for MILITARY Duct tape, and military ammo bags, your only loot source of ballistic fiber).

But it won't let you do things like add extra carry capacity, stealth buffs, stablizing your sniper scope aim, stronger melee damage, radiation resistance, etc. Which is what mods for proper armor have, and then some.

Sweet. Thanks man. That's what I was wondering were why I couldn't craft clothing items. I appreciate the info.

You are not the first one to wonder. Most of us start to get confused when the helmets turn up.

"Sweet, an army helmet. it has little straps on it and... oh can't mod it"

Mining helmets can have the color of their light changed, at least. Combat armor helmets have basic armor options (but their lights don't work). Metal helmets can be upgraded some, but not as good as combat/synth helmets.

Synth helmets can also be upgraded, but I ignore those because you can't wear sunglasses. Even the one that doesn't cover your eyes.

Oh right. You are only allowed to scrap apperal items that can be modded. So you can scrap a mining helmet (because of the light) but not an army helmet.

On that note, if you like using power armor a lot, consider the blue light mod. Blue light is much more easy on the eyes than the default. (Also, your pip boy light is the color of your Pip Boy UI settings option).

EDIT: Oh right. You need one rank of the Science Perk (6 INT) to do nearly any power armor upgrades. even for basic durability.

I know you said "loot" sources, but I'd like to add: If you are having trouble finding Ballistic Fiber, KL-E-O from Goodneighbor and Proctor Teagan from the Prydwen sell shipments of 25 Fiber each, they are a little expensive, but it is enough fiber to make two items into Ballistic Weave Mk5, so it is worth it.

About that weave; it's rewarded from minutemen quests, right? How do you get to those?

Railroad, and by doing some of their questline. (Can still choose a different faction to sidewith because it occurs early on).

it's a shame the bos underarmor suit can't be moded with ballistic. dunno why cause it's just same thing as vault suit which can be upraged.

if you wanna be able to mod all your armor-clothing, you need the Armorsmith Extended mod with AWKCR.
