Any way to stack walls ontop of eachother?
I have a settlement at the airport, and I'm trying to build a massive wall around my transporter to seperate it from the lowly petty residential peseants but you can't ever seem to build double walls without a floor, and it's not even allowing me to build a floor on any of the walls i've built.

Depends I guess what walls? Ever build a 2 story building before? Same way just without floors, I did it just fine.

Kiiiiinda? If you cheat and want to abuse the laws of phycis, and are okay with gaps in the walls.

However, it won't help. Settlers and enemies will teleport to wherever they damn please when you arrive (even without fast travel). and off screen attacks don't care how many turrets or walls you have.

Some examples forthcoming

A: I put picket fences to block off all the doors to the various abandoned houses I'm not using in Sanctuary. I keep seeing Settlers inside them trapped so they can't do their job. I get radscorpiins inside them and my normal walls ("Well radscorions can dig so obviously"-) as well as gunners and other enemies who can't dig their way in.

B: I made a sealed enclosure for my water purifiers and generators. with heavy laser turrrers inside it for overkill. enemies end up in there/it doesn't protect against off screen attacks.

C: enemies just end up bypassing my walls and gates when I fast travel ("Well, clearly they teleported because you fast traveled. as a REAL GAMER I never fast travel so-") or when they show up attacking from the back of my enclosed mini town while I'm already there crafting vegetable starch.

and so on.

I suggest actually using cement blocks and build that kind of wall

Use shack foundations in the floor section. And use the first stair in stairs to align them.

Slightly labored workaround, but you can build a floor, build a wall that snaps onto it, then build a staircase (the one listed under floors, not stairs) snapped to the floor, then build another floor off of that staircase right above the ground floor (so now you have 2 levels of floors), then attach a wall to the second floor right above the first wall, then remove floors and stairs. The 2nd level wall will stay where it is. There might be a slight gap between them where the floor used to be depending on which wall you use, but you'll have an extra high wall at that point.

Not without a floor between them, unless you want a visible gap.

walls dont do anything, enemies spawn in the settlements not outside.

Honestly, best usage of free standing walls is to prevent incidental fire from hitting your expensive stuff. Definitly at least wall up your generators and purifiers so when an enemy throws a grenade at your settlers, it won't bounce over to them and blow them up.

Whenever I get around to installing missile turrets (I CAN, but they are better at killing you and your settlers than enemies), I'm going to use corner walls to basically give them blinders and limit their cone of fire to where I want them to shoot.

Heavy Laser turrets are your best bet when you want to actually spend power on turrets. Heavy MGs are the best for filling our your defense statistic, but they anywhere near as harmful to enemies.

I have like, 30+ HGMs and a few heavy lasers right now. One heavy laser outperforms half my HMGs shooting at a distant radscorpion chasing my newest settler slowly walking towards my town.

i built the double floors around the outside of my shed by first laying down a set of stairs, then i could build the next set of walls on that.

I'm well aware that in the instance of an attack - especially off-screen attack that NO guards, turrets, guard posts, walls, Chuck ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Norris's don't make a single difference. The only factor is whether or not you're there. That is clearly a discussion for another time, as I'd love to have an update or mod which actually calculated the chances of an off-screen attack being won.

I'm wanting to do a double wall in one settlement for a personal preference, something specifically for the look of it.

The only way to make stackable walls I found is to use Concrete Foundation floors, attach the lower section of a set of floor stairs to the side of a concrete foundation piece then place another concrete foundation piece on top of it and it will snap to the upper part of the stair piece, then remove the floor stair piece

Console method:

Build the lower wall, then use setpos z ### to raise a piece of it to the level of the second wall. Then you can snap to the wall you raised to finish the second row.

Use getpos z to find the current height.
I believe the height of a steel wall piece was is about 230, so use getpos z then add 230 using setpos z. And tweak it from there.

End result:

I raised mine enough to get roof sections in between but that isnt required.

Also if you get the wierd bug where that piece looks like its vibrating after you raise it. Just ad a 0.01 to the pos z height. Dunno why but it fixes it.

If you really want to "wall in" the relay. Just use concrete block and stack them around the relay...make a pyramid or something :P

There is anew mod that allows you to easliy stack foundations, I cant seem to find it again but i will update with link if you cant search yourself
