Its part of the 'immersion' that having no ability to see what your stats are at a glance is supposed to bring. Same thing as in Skyrim.
Thanks for the info. I didn't notice that. Not in Skyrim either! How unobservant of me.
I sneak around without my full HPs quite a lot. I can frequently find beds to heal me up rather than use stimpacks. I clean the bad guys out a ways, then go back and take a nap. Havent been killed yet. Not like the old timey RPG/D&D games, when you could sleep in a dungeon but could be attacked any time at great disadvantage to your party.
